I am thinking about servicing the KIPS power valve on 99 KDX200: Once having accquired an owners manual of course. My question is, just how involved a complicated process is it? I am of average mechanical ability
Funny you should ask. I also have a '99 and I was atempting to service my KIPS last night. It does not seem compicated but I hit a wall when I could not get the set screw off the shaft. The screw was on tight and the hex wrench began to strip the screw. There is also a shaft nut that needs to be removed and it also was giving me problems. I aborted the mission and justified with "If it ain't broke don't fix". The bike has been apart since November and my first ride is next week. I did not want to risk missing the ride by having to order new parts.
If you do it you will need new gaskets. Good Luck.
