Check out this very candid interview with Grant Langston on RacerX's web site.

He sounds so confident that it seems almost out of character. I can't wait until Vegas and 125 West vs. East race!

I cant wait for the nationals. Do you think Bubba will be able to push Brown and Langston around the way he has the 125 west? Last year RC said Bubba was the only guy that could hang with him on a 125.

Bubba will kick Langston's ass like no tomorrow.
Brown won't even be up there. I don't see the ProCircuit bikes being that good supercross bikes, and I don't see Brownie being that good a supercross rider. If he's lucky, he'll make top 5. But I doubt even that. Langston or Reed will win the East, but Bubba will show them who's the real boss at Vegas.

Course, I could be wrong....;)

I honestly agree with some of alot of what Langston had to say. I seem to really get two impressions of Bubba, one that he is a good kid and another that he is a little arrogant bastage. I don't really know why I just do. He comes off great in his post race speeches, etc but I can see some of the posturing and things that Grant mentions. To me Langston is the man to beat outdoors as of right now. I don't think that last year we really got to ever see his full potential. Bubba is certainly fast, very fast, but can he keep it off the ground for an 2 motos each day? A lot of the people in the West do seem to be letting Bubba pull whatever move he wants on them, but I don't think he'll be able to make the block passes on Langston, Brown and some of the other. Time will tell. I really can't wait for the nationals to start.

i feel the same way as you IDkTm i think hes fast but he needs three things. one he needs to learn some control. two he needs to learn to respect ppl a little more. and two he needs to learn that he is a rookie and he maybe be the hot **** but hes still a rookie and wont get everything he wants. i remember reading an article in one of the mx mags and htey had an interview with him about what his plans for the 02 season were and who he was racing for and i remember him saying that he didnt want to be on the splitfire team or the chevy trucks team he wanted his own team. something like that, like mc grath has. can someone enlighten me with a quote from the article because that has turned me off to him. when i see him i see an arrogent a$$hole!! pardon my french but thats what i see. mostly from that quote and partly from his actions on the track. i know ill get bashed for this but its just an opinion.

Hold On...

Before we label Bubba as an arrogant whatever based on a few quotes, let's give him a chance. Maybe James is a little smarter than we think. Instead of being buddy-buddy with his competition, he's got on a game face and takes care of business. Maybe a little bit of "Hurricane" Hannah there. Where Langston reads "arrogant" somebody else might read "focused."

As far as I'm concerned, Stewart has good PR skills for a 16 year old, and the least of his worries should be trying to make buds with his competition.

You are right. No one should be labeling bubba yet. I'm happy to see him riding like that. There needs to be more rubbing going on these days. I bet you all those retired riders are loving it since that is how they used to race. I can't wait until vegas and outdoors. There is going to be a lot of bar banging going on.

When the gate drops, the bull shiznit stops. Langston will try to mess with Bubba's head, but it won't work. I don't think JS is the least bit intimidated by Langston.

I saw Stewart at last year's Englishtown Race of Champions. He wasn't arrogant at all, in fact, he was very friendly, no attitude.
If he doesn't talk or say hi to Langston, who cares? Maybe he was focused, after all he was racing that weekend while Langston was just hanging out.
I don't particularly like Langston, and I'd like to Stewart take it to him.
Think of it like this: Stewart is already a better rider, just wait until he is the same age as Langston.
And Stewart is already doing much better in SX than Langston.

I disagree budda, Langston is by far the fastest guy in the 125 class. Was he was acclimated with US style tracks last season he was in a class by himself. Even with injuries, he was by far the fastest guy in the 125 outdoor series last year. A healthy Langston is bad news for everyone else in the 125 class this year, and the 250 class next!

Either way, its going to be a great 125 series.
It was kind of boring when RC was there, he just killed everyone. At least now we have competiton!
I say bring back JoJo Keller to whoop all these kids!

You have a crystal ball or what? I haven't seen them on a track together, have you? Compared lap times on the same track, what?

Langston shouldn't be bashing anyone for rubbing, lol. He better be faster than Bubba this year considering the huge gap in experience.

Pretty entertaining to read people's opinions of a new rider that's been in all of 4-5 pro races, who they've heard speak maybe 50 words. And Langston's "he ignored me" whine, sheez. His comments about Stewart gave me one impression; He's worried. Very worried. He should have won the National title last year, he's concerned about this new blood.

Stewart may be the fastest guy out there but Langston is definitely the funnest to watch. I mean, who can forget him waving to the crowd with the checkered flag in sight, then crashing and finishing fourth? Then sitting on the sideline and crying like a little girl? That was soooo sweet. Then I got to see him live in SLC last year go off the track and try to ride back on. Over a tough block. It didn't work. He's a nitwit. I hope Stewart waxes him.

I guess I give everyone the benefit of the doubt...

I didn't read anything into the interview other than some testosterone of a young kid who rides fast and is pretty cocky. What young fast kid isn't? Regarding Stewart, this being his first year he might still be a little timid about trying to mix with the "older" guys. I think his focus is on proving himself on the track.
Nothing like seeing them together on a track to settle the issue. This year is so awesome because so many people have stepped it up and the title isn't a sure bet for anyone in either class. Makes it fun for us.

I agree a little with all these posts.... Talk about sittin on the fence. Langston is a fast guy. Could he win a supercross titile? Yep and could Bubba win one also? Looks like its going his way. Not because of his domination but because of the lack of consistency with the other riders. No doubt Bubba is going to be a champion. He destroyed all of TP's and RC's amatuer titles and is probably going to win the a 125W Supercross title on his first attempt. He is younger than Langston and will probably be faster than langston when he is 19 and Langston is pushing 23. Thats my take on the Supercross deal.

Now my take on the Nationals.

I think Langston is "going" to be the fastest guy this year. He should have won the title last year and was the fastest guy out there. If he stays healthy he will win the title.
Langston shouldn't be bashing anyone for rubbing,
I dont think he was bashing Bubba as much as he was bashing his teamate for taking it and not giving it back.

Only time will tell. I guess thats why the play the game.

I cant wait for the nationals!!! Reed, Bubba, Brown, Langston, Ward.... That class is stacked. I rember Brown running down Grant more than once last year, dont count the champ out. We all know Bubba has the speed but he will pay if he goes out and trys to bully these guys around, Sellards has already had it with him. My pick for this weekend, Brown:p

I remember last season when Langston also took out Brown purposely. Brown took the outside and Langston took the inside and then Langston cut across the turn and took out Brown's front tire. Langston is also an aggressive, cockie South Afrikanner. It should be a great season, but I would really like to see Bubba smoke the whole field. BTW-What is wrong with being aggressive? This is a racing sport.

Langston and Brown went at each other all year... I have nothing against that at all. The one move pulled by Brown last year when he went WAY out of his way to T-Bone Fonseca bothered me. He took a slower line to do it.

Block passing, etc. is part of the sport. Targeting someone just to take them out isn't.

I totally agree with you, but the point of my comments was that Langston is just as aggressive as anyone else. Of the supercross series that I did watch I did not see Stewart targeting anyone. So I guess the ultimate comment shoudl be - Mr. Langston don't be a HYPOCRITE!!!

"Crusty and Rusty" Also, referenced to me not my BIKES

Here we go. Okie what is the differnce between the move Brown pulled on Fozi and the move Grant pull on brown at Broom-Tigoa? Nothing!!!! I have seen Bubba do the same thing this year. Did you hear the Brown interview after Langston took him out? He was mad at himself for leaving the door WIDE open, not Grant. Hey man that mx. Brown is not a bad guy because he walked through a door that Fonzi left open.

You call that move a block pass? Brown is a great rep for the sport... lol. It's amazing how several people can see the same thing and draw completely different conclusions. I haven't seen Bubba pull anything that even comes close to Brown. Maybe I better watch all the races again.

Oh, and BTW. The sky is blue. ;)

All this talk of the outdoor season is also getting me pumped up! My dark horse for 125 champ is Rodrig Thain.

He is very fast and will be on the YZF. He's had injuries and bad luck for a few years now, but will be rested after taking the SX series off for surgery, and he'll be motivated after all the bad press from the Gosselar incident.

Nobody mentions him now, but when Thain starts winning, we'll see a bunch of whinging about what a dirty rider he is and that he's using a cheater bike.
