Just for kicks and giggles, would some of you list a typical low fat, healthy days diet?Lots of people try to get in shape but they start at the wrong end I think.I am not totally out of shape but want to take it to the next level.I know it will take a change of diet.30 years of eating wrong(normal)is tough to change, prabably equall to an addiction. So just to know what I am getting into, could someone with a low fat diet list a typical day diet. And do you ever stray?

3 gm of fat per 100 calories. Cut out the sugar, fast foods, late nite snacks. Do some form of exercise. Start slow and make small changes in your diet. Don't try to make one big change. This should be a life style change.

Slowly reduce your calories compared to just a drastic drop.Taking a drastic drop will send your body in fat storage thinking it will not get anything for a while.:think ;) :)

Cut out the fat
I eat more than people twice my weight and still im very lean.
Cut out ALL the junk ,fried foods, chips, mayo, dressing, snack cakes, cheese, whole milk, ect
It may be hard at first but once you get used to a healthy diet stuff like that will make You sick.
You will also get annoyed when you walk into some convienence store that is loaded with food yet there is nothing in there to eat!

As mopowa is suggesting, it's all about being smart, NOT focusing on "low fat". Just cut the damn junk out, eat healthy, etc.

I'm a doc, & know the intrinsics of metabolism pretty well, but I stay out of this forum for a couple reasons. 1) There are several on here that are routinely correct (I'm not needed), 2) I didn't come here to talk nutrition.

Just don't want you to focus on low fat. It's fairly well-documented that America is getting FATTER on a low fat diet, etc... and cholesterols & heart disease rates aren't moving, or in fact, getting worse. I don't have the time to discuss this right now, but would be glad to later.

Remember, a tsp of olive oil a day keeps the cardiologist away...:silly:

I still eat a lot of stuff I should'nt, just not as much. Like bacon or sasuage and eggs. Now I only eat them 3 days a week as compared to 7days. A lot more chicken and rice, brown bread instead of white. Try to start your day with a good breakfast, a mid morning snack, lunch, afternood snack, and a good supper. Pick food that you like and cut down on the serving size. Instead of fat free try the lite. WATER,WATER,WATER. About 1oz per 2.2 lbs of body weight.
