What happened to Windham in the first moto. I caught the motoworld rerun and it said all Langston has to do is finish an average of 6th or better for the rest of the year to reach 401 points and keep James out of the championship. His 5th place is gonna keep it interesting.

Langston is cutting it fine. My prediction, Langston will go into the final moto, of the final race needing 15 points to wrap up the championship - and will DNF

caught this at cyclenews.com Honda’s Kevin Windham, the winner of the last two rounds, crashed once while making up for a bad start and then later pulled off momentarily after getting sick. Windham ended up ninth in the moto

Yeah, I was listening to the live broadcast and he battled up to 4th from like sixth. He was trying to make a move on Fonseca and they jumped side by side but Windham OVER jumped and went down. He got back on the bike somewhere near 14th.

Kdub was making up ground quick. He had gone from 16th place start to 4th in 4 laps. He was trying to get around Ernie. He overshot the uphill triple, this is the same triple that only the top 5 were doing. Even DV and Bubba wasnt doing. Got up in 14th, probably a little stunned, and made it to 9th.

Hmmmm.... the results that SKR posted shows that Reed was on a 250.  Anybody know what he actually rode?

Last lap of the first 250 moto, KW rolled all the whoops and stopped for a drink of water from one of the Honda guys, he looked like he was hurting. Looked great in the 2nd moto. Reed looked real fast on the 450. There was no way anyone was going to catch Ricky & Bubba the way they were going through the whoops. I tried timing them both in their 2nd motos through the whoops and I kept coming up with Bubba getting through them faster. Those where the baddest set of whoops I've ever seen.

The big difference that I could see in the whoops was Bubba was WFO the whole way, not looking very smooth with a lot of fighting the bike up and down, whereas Ricky was very fast through the first half, then turned the last one third into a rythem section. RC was was much smoother and I'm sure saved a lot of energy vs Bubba. Neither one had anyone even close, so with the 90 plus degree heat, RC was smarter (IMO) to ride the whoops slightly slower and conserve energy.

People wonder how Carmichael can win over and over and over again--and stay consistent. It's at least partially because he's prepared for ALL conditions. He knows simple, simple things that no one else bothers even to think about: 'hey, what if it's like 100 degrees in Minnesota in August, like it never is? Huh?'--he's ready. No one else was. He knows that one single underestimation can hurl you back in points quickly, and knows for sure there are going to be bad days, bad tracks (for you), etc. Everything else has to be perfect. He's lost his races this year. He's done.

And the day you see RC pull off the track to have a drink of water will be the same day Windham gets on a McDonnell Douglass full of high profile CEO's,worked on by Saudi mechanics and flies over Lockerbie, Scotland. :p

Nephron, Ouch. :(

RC trains for days like sunday, he could probably race for the whole hour. I would like to see some of these guys do a WORCS or GNCC. Three hours of racing could cause strategy changes! :)

I listened to it on the webcast. He was going big when he went down. It sounded like he overjumped the landing. If you havent ever done it, you cannot imagine. That was a good run.

Re:Windham getting sick in the first moto - I know from distance running in Houston that the biggest single factor in hot-weather fitness is LENGTH of training time - and RC's been doing a steady training program for years. There's no way to match that for a guy who wasn't even walking a year ago. KDub'll be back, although matching RC is a big job. Having one's body give out on a 90 degreee high-humidity day has more to do with prior injuries and lost training time than effort. Probably had a lot to do with DV, also.
