I was just wondering if there are any other Minesweeper addicts here on DRN? The game is on just about every pc I've seen and I can't stop playing! As if surfing around on DRN wasn't enough of a distraction, that game has been my on-and-off weakness for about 10 years. :|

Lately, the best time I've had on the expert level is 166 seconds. Anyone else play?

Damn, I thought I was the King of minesweeper. I was in the low 200's on expert and 9 on the beginner but you guys put me to shame. The last time I played for some reason when I would right & left click at the same time it would not uncover the open cells if all the connected mines were marked. I have not played in a few months but I'm sure I play before the day is over.

I'm with pred :thumb: , if it wern't for Freecell and DRN, I wouldn't come to work

I'm about 70% win rate, I might do better, but once and awhile I get one game that just won't work with me :)

Mine doesn't either, unless I'm not doing it right. Do you left or right click? (or both?) Does it matter where you start from? (a flagged block or a numbered block or a covered block?) What happens when you let go, do the bombs flag themselves?

I've had minesweeper since windows 95 came out i think. I never actually sad down and tried to figure out how to play it, but the few times I screwed around with it if you just click around sometimes a whole group of blocks disappear, thats what i think monkey is saying.

That's just how you start the game Howser. Once you get lucky like that and clear a group of blocks out, you work around the edges and deduct where a bomb is hidden by the numbers next to it. A block with a 2 in it means that there are 2 bombs hidden behind the blocks that border the 2. Right click to flag the proper bomb block. Keep going till you clear all of them out.

I hate those games, was an addict once, had to have an intervention session, 12 step process and all ... very bad stuff ;) :)

The Mac had one where you pushed little balls around - managed to clear every level - wow, those were the days

O.K., Minsweeper addicts, try this: set up a custom layout, make the size 24x30 (the largest it will allow) and put in 200 bombs. Believe it or not, with a little luck on your side you can actually clear everything out...a couple times a year..hehehe.

FreeCell addicts: a few weeks ago I set a new personal best with 65 wins in a row...no friggin joke. And yes, I have no life.

Dang, is that what you're supposed to do when you're bored? And to think all of this time I've been playing with the sharp objects on my desk. I'll have to check out this high tech distraction. :)

Free cell for me too. I only can play it on my lunch breaks as DRN takes up the rest of my eight hours of work. :p

I started at number one and I am now up to 5,705.
Number 617 is the hardest one I have found. It took a long time to figure that one out.

seriously people, what kind of jobs do you have where you can spend this much time goofing off? How secure do you feel with this type of job? It seems like sooner or later the "powers that be" would figure out they could save lots of money letting you do that at home. With the economy what it is around here, anyone who isn't really pulling their weight has been getting the evil eye and lots of "lay offs" (many times with no open invitation to ever come back).

I'm not trying to be critical, just curious...
