The MM and LM were fine events. Top notch in everyway.

Congrats to all for doing so well!

Fred - I heard all about the mod's to your pit bike. Zach went through the whole "show and tell" with my son. Mike thinks it's the coolest bike he has ever seen.

I made the trip to the U.P....was my first time riding up there. The mini Moose had some great trail for the kids....I had enough fun that when the Buddy class ended I rode the second loop for fun. Nice job guys....could of rode miles of trail like that. So who won the overall at the Loose Moose?

I had a blast as well!

Nick - I think you got the course juuuust right for us C riders - still true to Moose form - some tough trail, but as Magoo said before hand, entirely rideable. There was some sweet trail yesterday!

I saw Fred's, DW's and Don's rigs bearing down on me in the rear view mirror...I just can't seem to keep that little motorhome stream rolling along as well as you guys with the big rigs!

Good ride, everyone!

Hope you all had fun and enjoyed some of the best conditions you can experience in MQT. Turnout could have been better; it's too bad because all the riders I spoke to thought their respective course (A, B or C) was just the right test for them. We worked hard to try to come up with the right formula, and I think Trailboss Nick hit the nail on the head!
The MiniMoose was awesome this year too! DB as guest starter was cool, I think the parents liked that as much as the kids (do you know who THAT is...!). We threw a twist into it by making the second loop a little different (harder), and I think everyone enjoyed that! Hopefully it was a good event to end the Family Series with.

I thought Bobbitts burnout on the stage was pretty cool, too!

Trail Boss Nick, excellent trail routing for as far as I made it. Flat tire just before the start of "AA" ended my day. :yell: Thanks to everyone who made the race a sweeet ride!! I'll be bringing the "A" game to Harrison. I may even wash the bike this time.

Thanks to the upsandstormers for putting on a great Mini Moose. This was our first time at the marquette enduro. I was a little worried about how the course would be marked, because the flyer said to follow the arrows to the staging area. We did not see any arrows down the gravel road and took a wrong turn. We ended up who knows where. Eventually we found the staging area. The course was WELL MARKED though. Thanks for a great event.

Some peoples must have Popeye forearms by now as I must say the event was very well marked from start to finish!I also liked those little flo orange ground flag, I was slaloming them...OK not really. By the way Tricky Nick the arrows were definitely not located in the same PLACES on the mountain as last year. Note to self : Forget trials tire bring um block & tackle! You would have been proud of me Nick on my descend at Goose Lake…I was Air born with knees tucked tightly to tank scaring the hell out of all the spectators {I thought they should have been taken pictures of them selves at that point} as I jumped the bolder and took the right side line down, and when I made the turn at the bottom by da skin of ma a zz I said #$%#&*^%$@(*&$##$%%^&*)(*(&@&%$#%#$*#&#%*# Nick I got this Moose done!

You said it - sir. My son got a kick watching DB ride his mountain bike while "resting" at the staging Gas stops. Although I could have done without his suggestion - "Dad- why don't you do that?" How does that man find the energy? Thank you Sandstormers.

Boy is he! He was on my minute - so we had the pleasure of watching him, and trying to keep him in sight for a few seconds after the restarts. Amazing rider - nice guy as well. He will even sit and BS with us slow poke C riders...

I just had a nice conversation with Magoo. He said he was in charge of the weather this weekend - great job!!
This event was diffficult, but an improvement from last year. I think the club proved that it listens to constructive criticism. The trail for the C riders (future B and A riders) was perfect. Many of us told them that the resets were not adequate last year - big improvement this year. To quote a AA rider about the first section last year - "You sucked the fun out of this ride already!" Every section was long and challenging this year and, according to Magoo, they had alternative plans if the rain had continued. A suggestion about the event that I passed along was to change the order of the sections. The moon rock section in the middle may have been better than at the end and then the last section could have been the fourth gear plains trail.
My other suggestion was that I would have been satisfied with an 8 mile section at the end (versus 16 miles), but I am an old, B rider.
I did hear a couple of Saturday riders that wished the Mini Moose had a third loop. They really like the trail and wanted more.

Did everyone get a chance to review the petition related to the proposed DNR Directors Order to provide some enforcement of the 24" motorcycle trail? If not, it will be available at Harrison. Please Magoo or me if you have any questions.

Now that I've had a chance to relax some, I'd be receptive to some CONSTRUCTIVE feedback about the event.
One of our main goals this year was to take the constructive comments that we got last year, and make the event better based on those comments. I'm sure we did OK in some areas (resets were better?), and maybe not so good in other areas (still too much technical terrain?). I hope that everyone at least feels that we did try to take the riders comments and made a sincere effort to make our event one that more riders could enjoy, yet feel that they were challenged. I know that we can't please everyone, but I'd like to think we did better than last year.
I'm not looking for a pat on the back, and I'm not looking for attacks, either. I would like good ideas of what we can do so that more riders enjoy both the Mini Moose and the Loose Moose. We'll work to take yet another step toward an even better event for next year.
If you are uncomfortable posting your thoughts here, please feel free to email me at: info AT upsandstormers.com

Trust me I know what it is like to try to make continious progress, we were on that plan this year at JP too.
1. Yes, you guys did great on the resets, and with the longer sections that was nice and greatly appreciated. I thought they were really, really good.
2. I thought the trail marking was great too and I liked the little red flags in the plains area, that was a great idea that I plan to remember for us next year, we could have used that idea in one spot.
3. I think the "C" riders had a good event this year and just enough for them. They got challenged but finished.
4. I am an old "SS" rider so the section between ck 7 and ck 8 was really just too much technical trail for me and very long. The last 4-5 miles of it was fun but I was so wasted that I just wanted to finish. Ken's off camber section was tough, had bottle necks and was mercifulessly difficult for me. About half of that would been enough "for me" as I was down several times and have the bruises to prove it. I did see many riders either quit in that section or hour out so I was not alone but thankful I made it before houring out. That was tough.

I thought for the most part is was pretty damn good up to that section.
My comments are based on the "B" loop so I can't comment on the "AA/A" section.

Overall I saw many improvements this year although I never was able to ride it last year. I did ride it in 2003 and 2004.

Oh yeah, both my kids really liked the Mini Moose trail this year, and they were disappointed it was over. Thats about the highest complement you can get!
