This past weekend a buddy and I were out riding and he *claimed* he knew the trail. He puts me in the lead and said "All's clear." (no rocks, logs, etc.) We come up on a slight crest in the trail... I look to him... he gives me a thumbs up... I open the throttle and take off. I was about 15 feet in the air when I see a rock in the middle of the trail... right where I'm going to land. :( CLEAR MY BUTT! Wham! The bike hits the rock and bounces us both off the trail. I land on one side of the trail and my baby lands dead on the other side. My buddy comes over the crest and sees me laying there. So what does he do? He LAUGHS so hard he falls off his bike. Yeah yeah really funny... until we go to start my bike... nothing. :( I had to push my baby 2 miles back to the trucks. My friend felt bad so I got a new pair of gloves out of that deal. I get my baby home to find that all he needs done is to replace the exhaust. I drop him off at another friend's place to get things patched up... but it doesn't end there. I went by tonight to pick up the bike and my buddy breaks the news that there is a crack in the frame. :scream: :( I was going to retire him this year, but I guess I'll have to do it sooner than expected. Long story short I'm in the market for a newer CR125. Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!
Don't ever go to Reiter! You'll be replacing body parts not bike parts!
BTW, if you go to the Northwest Spodefest (check out the West chapter forum) DON'T follow Karl on a ride, right Bbbom? He's definitely led us into some . . . . uh . . . interesting places, and laughed at the results.
Sorry about your bike and I will keep an ear out for anything interesting. Last year I had 2 friends with nice 125s for sale, 1 RM and 1 YZ but not now.
Ok not ALL of you are bad. I'm sorry. I should have said "Never take Scott's word for it." How's that. ;) FC22, thanks for the offer, but I'm sticking to the CR125. I love that Honda and the size is perfect for me. I found a few in Cycle Trader that I'm going to check out this weekend.
In the meantime I'm still morning the death of my little dirt monster. :( He always did me right. :whiner: :whiner: *snif*
ALWAYS be prepared for what is in front of you. If you've never ridden the trail before then go slower or let your buddy go in front. A good rider can take anything that is thrown at him. I'm not saying your a bad rider. I'm just saying be prepared for that tree/rock around the next corner.
I see your in the Tacoma area. Vancouver aint to far away and with the exchange rate your laughing. here is Vancouver Buy & Sell (Dirtbikes) . Theres a few Cr 125's in there so check em out. Good luck
"a verbal agreement ain't worththe paper its written on" is the saying that comes to mind and you ddint even get that all you got was a thumbs up. could be he was thinking out loud to himself "man this is gonna be awesome watching this!!!" and inadvertantly gave you the go ahead symbol when all he was doing was supporting his own thoughts? :p
Geez guys. I know it was my fault for not checking the trail, but I have to vent on someone else and Scott was the only person with me. :) Bottom line is I'm just bummed about my baby. Next time I'll make sure someone else leads. :p
Thanks for the info on the bikes up in BC, but I don't feel like dealing with the headache of buying outside the US and bringing it back. :silly: Those customs officers can be harda**es for no reason at times.
Nah the whole bike needs to be replaced. I have a few options right now so I'm not sweating it too bad. Since I'm REALLY buzzed right now I'll leave it at that. ;) No sense in rambling, right? :)
We were out near Naches. It was the first time I've been there so I couldn't tell you exactly where we were. It was a pretty cool trail. It kept us busy for about 6 hours. :)
