I just got a 86 KDX200 it is missing alot of parts but I am going to try to get it fixed with the help of the members. (I Hope)

There is a long list of issues but I will try to keep it simple for now.

KIPS valve (I think) cover and some parts seem to be missing. The valve seems to be there and moves in and out freely but there is nothing connecting it to the shaft that comes up out of the crank case. Can I run it at all like this? I plan to try to get it started tomarrow.

Also it needs a seat. Any suggestions on where to get one, or if any of the KX seats will interchange?

Thanks for the reply. I want to get the Kips system working but I know nothing about it. I know there are a few diffrent manuals but which one is best, And gives the most detail on the KIPS system?

I am thinking I somewhat have this thing figured out. When the plunger is in it helps bottom end and when it is out it helps higher rpm? Or am I backward?

Could you just set it for high rpm and leave it there for a harder hit when the powerband came on?

My last 2 stroke was a 81 YZ125 so I am kinda comparing it that.

You have the idea. The KIPS or power valve system helps smooth the power delivery by regulating exhaust flow. You can run it with the valve open at the expense of bottom end.
