to the sport.

I live in the Tampa Bay area in FL. Just got a CR125 for myself and and CRF80 for my son. We have a couple of acres at a friends house and we're buidling a track. Doesn anyone know of any software that will help you lay it out? Any advice on distance between turns and jumps etc?

Also, when I click on "view profile" for a user it won't let me? Why is this, I've been registered for several days now?

Thanks,

Welcome to the site

Be sure and go to your User CP and update information relating to your location, type of riding, etc. After that grab a spot on the couch and tell us a bit about yourself. How long you have been riding, what kind of riding you prefer, where you are located, etc. We will do our best to hook you up with some fellow dirt bike enthusiasts. We have a small group of folks in the southern part of Florida, but they are not really organized.

Regarding your questions:
In order to view the profile of other folks, you must be a subscriber.
As far as info on track design, the layouts of the various supercross tracks are available on line, but I would not recommend them as a starting point for a personal track. I would suggest that you search the site for track design and see what pops up. Another idea, if that one comes up empty is to start a new thread in the General & Off-Topic Discussions forum. We have a number of members on the site with personal tracks and a few public track owners as well. I am sure you will get losts of comments. My one comment would be to make sure all jumps are table tops for safety.

Check out the Southern Spodes forum for opportunities to hook up with fellow DRNers just to your north.

Again, welcome to the site and shout if you have any questions!

Thanks, I've just picked up riding again after about 16 years (I'm 32 now). My son, 10 is just starting out on an CRF80 but after a few weeks is cruising around pretty good, got the clutch down etc. So another friend who's 3 kids riding and 2 of them racing, has 2 acres and we have a lot of dirt to work with.

We were thinking of putting in at least one set of doubles but you seemed to be suggesting we not? Our thought was that with a regular place to practice everyone would get more comfortable with it?

Thanks.

I'm not the best authority on tracks, but I have always read that it is much more difficult to mess up a table top than a set of doubles. MX-727 has a track on his property with a couple of small doubles (4 feet high by about 10~15 feet between peaks) which are safe enough, but not safe enough for this tree banger.

I would crank up a new thread entitled Track Design or something similar and see what suggestions pop up.
