I recently put a new top end in and everything seems to check out fine. The compression is great and I replaced all the gaskets. For some reason though, now when i go to fire the bike up it fires up on the first or second kick then it shuts of right away. If i slowly push the kick starter down several times then give it a good kick it fires up then stalls, this also happens if i remove the plug and kick it a few times then replace the plug. The mix is right so i doubt its that. Could it be a carb problem now? or something else? Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

what were the symptoms that made you rework the top end?.... did you do a bunch of changes BEFORE the top end that may need to be corrected back now that the top end is good again?

the bike wouldn't jet right at all no matter what i tried, compression was kinda low for a 250 and i had a new piston laying around so i just figured why not. The only thing that could be off is the jetting but I don't know why it would fire up then stall right out. I used the fmf setting for the jetting for the pipe and reeds I have so I don't know why it does this. Before it would run just not that good no matter what the jetting was. I'm going to clean the carb tomorrow, a piece of dirt or something from my garage could have slipped in it so i will have to wait till tomorrow after work to check it out

If you havent done it already, change the plug....You say you had trouble with jetting before , maybe the left side crank seal ?
