I'm considering putting 515 (my wedding anniversary) with black backgrounds on my KX250. I don't race and I was wondering if any other non racers have numbers. I need the backgrounds to cover scratches and I figured that I might as well get the numbers for the price. How do you feel about non racers having number? Acceptable or poser?

Thanks

Don't worry about what other people think. It is your bike, do your thing. I ran a number long before I raced and so did most of my buds. Why? Well, it is easier to spot your pals when there are 50 bikes tolling around. Plus it gives you a litte more of a sense of individuality since there are a handful of basic colors to choose from in bike options. But in the end, it is your bike and you can do what you want to it. If someone thinks you are a poser, so what? They can do what they want to their bike.

Heck man, do what you want. It is your bike!

Except just don't use "Pi" or "Prince's symbol" from when he changed his name because I am running those together and in that order... ;)

I run Pi, but the numerical version. The whole thing.

I put numbers on my bike with no plans to race. The bike felt so much faster with numbers on it, I decided to go ahead and race. After a couple of races, I can say this: It only felt faster! :)

Go ahead and put numbers on it, it looks cool and doesn't seem poser to me unless you go completely ape with graphics and stickers!

I'm a non-racing geezer. Is it OK to use Roman numerals? :nener:

Hey sandjunkie! Is that the only way you can remember your anniversary? :rotfl:

I run '2' on my number plates. It's actually a pretty good indicator of the way I ride! If ya know what I mean. ;)

I'm the opposite. I think 69, 420, and 1, are poserish, and only appeal to people with a sophmoric sense of humor.

Any original number is cool though. I've just seen way too many clapped out bikes being ridden by 15yo's sporting #69. Yeah, sure kid....

I was thinking of 411. Is that "poser-ish? I hope not.. I just thought of a high number, probably close to the place I will finish when I (hopefully) ride this summer. lol

The bikes look alot better with numbers on them. I put them on my bike and have only raced once. Do it and don't worry what others think.

 You're on to me! I just hope she doesn't catch on. Actually, it serves two purposes. 1... reminder of anniversarry. 2. Reminder that I better not be caught riding on that day.

Go with the numbers regardless, you have number plates for a reason - use them. It will definitely look better with the numbers and you can personalize your bike with them. Everybody's stock bike looks exactly the same, this allows you to personalize it. For what its worth, in my opinion you shouldnt run #1 unless you've earned it. That just goes back to the old rule that only the champ has the option of running the #1 Plate.

Separate but related topic..... I like how the pro riders are keeping their lifetime numbers now and using them to market themselves, but I think the AMA should have the defending champ run their number (whatever they choose) in Yellow on a blue background like they used to do with the #1 Plate, I believe the FIM still does this in the World Championships too. Just a thought.

one thing I don't like about numbers. It's hard to hide. If (god forbid) you find yourself climbing those hills at the sand quarry that "is technically illegal but everybody does it" and they decide to crack down, well, it's a lot easier to find you in the parking lot when you have a three digit number on your bike.

Ok, here come the "anti trespasser" flames...

Thats why i took the numbers off my bike. you never know if you have to go a block or two on a highway or out of bounds to save 30 minutes going to another trail. cant stay legal all the time, i try though. numbers are like Tracking "I.D.'s" for the BLM and cops.

Ike DeJager, a MX instructor, runs 411 because he gives riding information. I'd only run 411 if you're really good and willing to share the knowledge.

Now...911 or 116 are appropriate for the spodely...
