Does anyone have any experience with an oversize fuel tank on a 98 cr 250? I' doing some research on which tank to buy and looking for things like fit, hardware, can I use my stock gas cap, can I run radiator guards, still get to the spark plug, is the tank any taller, durability stuff like that.
Thanks

I have a Clarke on my '99 (same frame as your '98). Holds about 3.0 gallons. Works great. Stock gas cap. I run a works connection radiator brace on the left side only. Spark plug access is not as good as stock. I basically change the plug at home every few rides and pull the tank to do so (it's very easy to take the tank off). I think the riding position is fine.

I have a used one I will sell you if you want it. It does not have a petcock valve or a gas cap. Let me know if you are interested and I can get you some pics if you want.

Why only on the left side?

That's how the bike was set up when I bought it, but I do think the big tank might interfere with the works connection radiator brace on the right side only. Other brands of guards or braces might not be a problem.

quick question bout the brace. I have a 99 cr 250. just installed my works connection radiator braces tonight. they went on upside down from the way it looked like they would go. The stamped works connection logo is at the bottom and upside down. At first i thought they had sent me the wrong ones, but they fit once i turned them upside down lol. Just wanted to make sure this is how your's fits also. Sorry to "kind of" hijack this thread!!! Just seems that since I can see the logo at the bottom of my shroud they would have stamped it the other way, if i have them on correctly.
