I am 5 ft 10 in and my GF is around 5 ft 2 in. I weigh 140 and she weighs just over 100.

We are going to buy a 2005 TT-R230 for me and a TT-R125 for her.

A few questions. The best quote I have on the 230 is around 3340 out the door. Is this a good deal?

For her it is either a 2005 TT-R125 le model with electric start or a 2004 L model without electric start. The 2005 is 2606 OTD and the 2004 is just over 2200 OTD. Does she really need electric start? Are these things pretty easy to kick start? Is $400 more worth the 2005 model and electric start? The only thing I can see the difference in is the electric start. The bike hasnt changed from last year.

What do you guys think? Dont want 2 strokes and the hondas are too pricey in my area.

fastmodena,
I have to agree with SpeedyManiac...Those TTRs are a dime a dozen used. They are great bikes for the two of you to start on. I suspect, though, that if you do a lot of riding and take a liking to the sport, that one or both of you will be ready to trade up by next year. (Especially if you read this board a lot...it dramatically accelerates urge for a more powerful ride). If you are buying two bikes, you could probably save $2k-$3k by buying a couple years old. If you are buying TTRs or XRs or even CRFs (<=230cc), then those machines are all very reliable and I would not be afraid at all of buying a used one as long as the person changed oil & greased frequently.

At 5'10" you should go for a WR or TTR250. You should also yes, buy a used bike. If you buy used you will definently save a lot of money. Dont buy a brand new 2005 ttr125, this bike wont have a lot of power and im sure it hasnt changed a whole lot since 04.

Thanks for the replies. I think we will buy her the TT-R125l on friday morning.

For me I would definetely love to have a WR but they are way over my budget. The TT-R230 fits me perfect at 5'10". I dont weigh very much so I dont push the bike down. I only weigh 140.

What would be the biggest difference between the 230 and 250. They are both 4 stroke and the 250 is much bigger for me.
