Hi there,

Just a quick question in regards to premix ratio's. I have done a search and could not find any info on motul 800t. My local shop has told me to run this oil at 50:1 and so does the manafacturers website, my bike is an 03 YZ250. I have always run 40:1 and am slightly concerned about a possible lack of lubrication.

The bike is jetted correctly for my local track and yes I do understand the richer/leaner argument about premix ratio's. However I am confused as to what is adequate in terms of lubrication. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Oil ratio is not dictated by the oil, it's dictated by the oil "contact time" So a high revving 80cc needs more lube than a slow turning 500cc..

Typically 40:1 is fine for a 250cc, but varying from 32:1 - 50:1 won't hurt anything.. more oil generally won't create a problem ever.

www.maximausa.com for more info on the correct way to choose a ratio.

Jon!

ps. If I'm going to a track on my YZ250 I'll run 32:1, but if I'm going to be lugging it through some woods I mix it to 40:1.

i've used that oil before in my 125. i used 32:1. if u always used 40:1 use it, dont worry about lack of lubrication its a really good oil! i only switched to try a different oils.
