When you were attempting to beat the races out, was the tire taking the shock, or was the hub supported by some sturdy blocking?

Thanks Pat.

I have removed many races using that procedure. I usually get them after the customer has butchered the bearing bosses with a punch or chisel and has given up all hope of ever getting the race out. The weld shrinks them enough that they fall right out.

Works every time.

That is a cool trick. We have a guy at work that can use a torch to straighten just about anything. It's pretty amazing to watch. Heat can be you friend for sure. :)
