Hot damn! That's awesome for a privateer. I didn't see his name anywhere near the front on the live timing card until near the end. He just quietly pulled 1:00 flat laptimes, and passed Ezra somewhere near the end of the race. Unbelievable. Why don't the factory guys look at him? Look at the list of factory riders he whooped: Lusk, Roncada, Larocco, Langston, and others... :cool:

Can you post a web link to where you read this? Or do you know someone that was there? Not hacking on you, but, it's tough enough to get live info on a race let alone what the riders did in practice/free time, and what they were or were not wearing at the time.

Travis ran down RC in the 250 heat #2, and passed him clean in the whoops. RC parked TP in the next corner. I guess you pass others like you would like to be passed. All of that "it's just racing" can be flushed down the crapper. If you can go the entire outdoor season undefeated, and be considered the best rider on 2 wheels, I would imagine you can pass without putting someone on the ground. Wait a minute, I think we saw it later that night. Bubba comes out of the hole shot in 18th in the 125 main, gets up, finishes 2nd, WITHOUT TAKING ANOTHER RIDER DOWN!! The crowd cheered every pass he made. I cheer him also. To pass that many pro riders clean in 15 laps is proof of being a great rider. What RC did was crap. I felt bad for him when he go booed before, but not now. I could see if it was a battle for half the main event and they were trading paint the whole time, but TP past him clean.
I race motocross, and if I have to park them to pass them, I won't do it. If you don't race, and just type MX, then you just won't get it. Even my 8yr old that races though it was bad. He asked me, "why did he hit him, Travis didn't hit him?". I'll let him figure that out on his own.

That info was given in a private setting and I will confirm hearing it from the source also. I would love to tell you by who but it was in confidence and Pat and I will respect that.
Altho I do believe at least 1 (b-boogie) fantasy competitor also found that info in a public area and referanced this in the team pick thread as to why he stayed away from picking Travis

Yeah I'd like to see him get more credit too. There was some crap going on last yer and he got passed over. It's too bad. I met him last year at Unadilla and he loves the sport and will keep riding as long as his sponsers hold up. He's a nice guy.

There are a series of pics of the "takedown" of TP by RC on sxgp.com. Check it out. It looks like RC b-passed him by sweeping his rear tire into Travis' front tire (Travis looked to be letting RC by), and the impact was hard enough as to spin TP's bike in at least a 180. Looks like he went down very hard.

What Travis needs is an attitude, because no matter how fast he is, he isn't going to beat RC consistently without being brutal to some degree. He needs to be the aggressor and quit playing the nice guy. Take him out in a practice session, or something for crying out loud.

Did anyone even LISTEN to the web feed last night? When RC block passed TP, Travis -- instead of chopping the throttle and squaring the turn-- tried to "push through" RC. It was a bad decision on Travis's part, period. They even went back and replayed it on the jumbotron and said that it would have been a clean pass but Travis wouldn't back down. RC didn't purposely take Pastrana out. Just like Stanton said right after that Heat: "You guys are a bunch of P***ies."

i race. i've used block passes and i've had them used against me. if the guy behind me throttles into me, then that's his problem. i won't wreck anyone on purpose but if i have to bump them to get by, i will. that is racing.

Another one bit the dust yesterday while testing. Travis Pastrana was testing at Castillo Ranch’s Supercross track yesterday, and apparently tried a new jump off the side of the track that he personally built. He hit the big step up fourth gear tapped, jumped off the bike and slammed on his bad leg when he landed. He got up and was walking, but was limping pretty badly. No worries, though. Travis wasn't affected by the crash. He'll be set for Anaheim this weekend

Looks like Lusk was sleeping out there. What the hell happened to that guy? He used to be the only one willing to go at RC, make or break. He looked good at the US Open, but just seems to be "surviving" out there. We need him to come back at RC hard to at least make this interesting.

RC proves the point in a collision, that size doesn't matter. It's apparently center of gravity. :debil:

Lusk talked big before the race too. They interviewed him and he said something along the lines that he's not felt this good on the bike since '93 or some year. I'm supposing he meant he felt good! Hopefully at least Reed will keep "this interesting." I've almost lost hope in any kind of real battle between RC and TP. That kid won't stay healthy.

Hats off to Reed. Even though is cockiness is questionable, his riding skills are not. It is just great to see that it might not be a "cake walk" for RC for SX this year. I do agree it is a bummer for TP to get hurt again, it seems he just gets bored with practicing, so he says in No Fear Chapter 2 dvd. He needs a thrill all the time, that is why he probably built that other jump in practice this week when he got hurt.
It looks to be an exciting year ...

I'm not a RC hater, but I do think that was pretty chicken chit, it was only a heat race,all either one of them had to do was finish top 10 and they were off to the main. Rc was dogged then passed cleanly, he had plenty of time to do the same ( that is if he's as good as we all make him out to be ), so I don't see it as being " Thats Racing ". If that move was put on Travis in the main, well then that's a whole different story, but pretty lame in a heat race.

TP's interview after the race was,I thought pretty cool, He accepted it and even accepted most of the blame, but it also serves as justification to return the favor first chance he gets.

RC interview kind of left me thinking that it was a deliberate take out, his commit was, and I'm paraphasing here, My focus in on the championship,so if that's the case, why is being passed in a heat race, in RD # 1 so devastating that you have to revert to tactic that you know damn well put the rider down?, Could it be that in order to win back to back titles he feels he needs to start eliminating the competiton one Round at a time :p

I don't Hate him, I just think he's a chicken chit little weasle :|

I re-watched the 1986 Aneheim SX with RJ and Bailey. I have seen more banging in that race between those two than I did all last year (and that includes the post-race slappy slap with DV and Roncada :) ).

The aggressive riding that is complained about now is nothing in comparison.

I do not agree that you need to put others down and ride into each other out there but this is the pro's and at that level the mental edge is important and if your competition is too scared to pass you then you just got an advantage. May not be pretty, may not be nice... but it can be effective.

Man what a great night of racing... I hope Reed keeps getting starts so he can challenge RC.

Ivan - you are so right. After the heat race... Jeff Stanton over the web feed said that today's riders are a bunch of pu$$ies compared to how it used to be back in the day. Bangin bars and swappin plastic was the norm 10-20 years ago.

I loved TP's interview after his semi win when he laughed and called Ricky a "Weeble Wobble" because the guy can get all outta shape and never go down (guess he jinxed him for the main). Ya know... the little weeble wobble toys with the weights in the bottom that you just can't tip over...

If you haven't noticed... in the incident at Indy between the two last year and in the heat race yesterday - RC is about to go down on both occasions, too... but somehow managed to stay up. Travis was in good spirits about the contact yesterday and simply saw it as them colliding. As said earlier, if Travis wouldn't have got on the gas as hard as he did, he probably woulnd't have went down yesterday. From what I have read on motonews.com - after they played the replay over the Anaheim Jumbotron it was clear it wasn't a deliberate takeout attempt. I also read on cyclenews.com (or maybe supercross.com ?) that RC turned around and looked at TP after the incident. He was probably thinikin... "oh crap here we go again with the fans". Poor guy...

Can't wait until next week! :thumb:

Chad Reed is the real deal this could be a great race season,don,t forget he was in the top 5 last year when he switched to 125 east it will be good for racing if RC has competition,hope TP gets better because he was making it tough for him in the main.

I think what's chicken $#!% is the people that are booing! RC is out there riding his heart out for a championship (one of the few that is willing to do whatever it takes) and people are calling "him" down!! These other pros "know" how to take care of themselves, that's how they got to where they're at, what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and I think RC knows this as well as anyone. He rides that fine line better than everyone, TP keeps going over it, and most of the others are happy riding a little more on the safe side of it. In the end I hope Reed keeps it up, and this 250 season comes down to the wire. :thumb:

I think its important to remember that RC has dominated the the sport in the last 18 months, and all roads to first place go through him. Travis used poor judgment in not understanding this. I agree with Stanton. I would say backing off, and squaring to set myself up for a later pass would have been prudent. Not to mention the fact that he should have known that RC isn't exactly the cleanest guy around. I did hear Travis say something about a brake check though. Even though RC had to fight traffic I think its significant that Reeds lap was so much faster. I think that RC, Reed, and TP (if he can stop being stupid) will have some great battles in the coming months.

Any one know where to get the lap times?

Yea I know Boomer, I don't know enough about SX/MX to be saying anything, but I just don't get the logic, Do you get extra cash for winning a Heat Race? I don't know, is it so much money that you look at a Heat Race as main event, again I don't know, what I do know is that, RC is faster than most, more consistent than most and with those two thing alone going for, why do crap like that in a heat race for god sakes. Like I said before, if that was the main event and RC did that I would say that’s racing.

I have this vision of RC getting this grieving lip syndrome after he got passed and did a here take that kind of thing and I’m sure the last thing that crossed his mind was what the crowd was going to think, it was more like oh good he’s gone

Also, I don't know about SX/MX racing 15-20 years ago, but in the late 60s to early 70s I did some MX and the battling and banging that went on was more due to the fact that field ( bike & rider )was so evenly matched and not so much a tactical manuver
