WOW - what a weekend!! I pulled back in this evening at 8 pm from a FULL day of riding and I am BEAT!! On the JOB this morning AGAIN at 6 a.m. (As Young Ted says "Woodsy is a NIGHT owl - NOT a morning person) so I could maybe catch a ride with Bbarel and company from the East side - IT WORKED!!!
I cant wait to do the ride report for this latest 3 day EVENT (w/ pics) but I simply cant do it right now... I just walked in from bike prep for tomorrow's ride with Young Ted, Randy and Larry (Cross Country trip from Cedar to Bitely).. Ted e-mailed me about 5 hours ago and said he would be leaving Chicago around 4:30 a.m. and was hitting the sack..
Anybody wanna play hooky from work, Cedar Creek at 9 a.m. (we are getting WET right now so there should be NO DUST - YES!!) - should be "legal" cause there will be a few miles of pavement and some gravel roads/2 tracks... All others, read about it on the next "Woodsy Report" :)
LET 'er RIP!!

Man I'd love to join ya. I am home today. But I spend Saturday night hugging the toilet. I got hammered by the flu. Spent yesterday on the couch trying to hold water down. Feelin better today. But still not 100%. Have a good ride. Make sure to splash Larry for me.

FYI, it looks like the CR that bit the tree $$$$$$ should be in one piece around Thursday. Oh, the power of the internet!

Cool deal. Did he buy new or get his fixed. THere are places out there that can fix the radiators and pipe way less than new. I was just reading on www.thumpertalk.com that some guy had his radiators fixed for under $100.

I think this is the place http://www.finish-line-pipes.com/

Here is a place that fixes radiators http://www.motorcycleradiators.com/

The pipe is really bad, and I had an Ebay spare ($20) anyway. The radiators are not fixable because they were crushed from the bottom up too much. So, new radiators are on the way ($$). Not as much as I thought, it pays to shop around - Service Honda had the best prices by far.

The exhaust flange was also cracked, so it's time to try a Boyeson flange.

Wow... Based on the damage report, I'd say Andy cut down a few trees. What happened? Did that yahoo Woodsy cut him off?!? :aj:

FWIW, I'd much rather whip out the VISA card than the Blue Cross Blue Shield card!

Yeah, Andy lost control of the bike and let it go. It apparently was airborne or on the back wheel when it caught a tree between the front wheel and the pipe. It shoved the pipe in and up, crushing the radiators from the bottom upward. So, another pipe (the third one), an exhaust flange, two radiators, and radiators covers (this time Devol) are the minimums to far.

I've never seen chunks of tree buried between the tire and rim like this. Good thing we have heavy duty tubes on this thing.

Woodsy is clear on this one. He wasn't in the woods at the time. However Fred T. was close behind, he may have done something sneaky with that high-zoot clutch he's got!

Ouch.... $$$ :whiner:

Sounds like a pipe or radiator guards may have only helped a little in a crash like that. Definitely sounds like it could have been a bone breaker.... As long as you can walk away, it's all good.

I hit a deer on my Suzuki DS-185 when I was about 14 or 15. I fell hard, the deer was killed, and there was a wad of deer fur stuck between the front tire and rim... no flat though.

FYI, I finally got some time tonight to tear into the tree-eating CR250. Bent radiators, broken exhaust flange, and of course bent pipe were there. What was interesting is I had to saws-all the pipe off! It wrapped really good around the frame and embedded into the bottom of the radiators.

Other than that, no damage.

Yeah, I know. I was thinking I'd find a bent frame tube or fork tubes, so relatively speaking, I was relieved!

I'm glad your son's OK.

I really wasn't being selfish with the CR, 'cause he's not coming home this weekend anyway. I've been wanting to give the CR a go since I got it, but it seems all I get to do is fix it!

I know what you mean about all the cars. Ben just turned 16 last week, since then I've seen him maybe a couple hours or so.

(Mark, but that's OK). Yeah it was! Sorry I didn't see you.

On April 1st, my company's Safety Director announced new OSHA regulations on paper clip safety. If you haven't heard about this yet, you'd better check with the companies you work for, this become a big problem. Now it's required that all employees of a company receive one hour of paper clip safety per month.

So I bought lunch for all my office staff to conduct off-site paper clip training.

You should've come over and said hi! I'm actually at the Stable for Lunch once a week or so.
