A 21-year-old Redding man was killed while racing his motorcycle at the Shasta Dam Hare Scrambles, officials said Monday.

Travis Kent Hagler lost control of his motorcycle and drove off Coran Road during the races on Sunday, the Shasta County coroner's office said.

He was thrown from the bike and landed 10 feet off the road. Hagler, who was wearing a helmet and protective gear, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Godspeed & sympathies to friends & family.
I'd also like to wish the organisers of the event all the best in dealing with this, I'd have to say that I know it's our worst fear & not just because of legal repercussions, but also having to question whether there was any way to prevent a tragedy like this occurring (the 30/30 hindsight feeling).

Again, condolences to all involved :(

I hope that when my time comes, it's on a dirtbike.

Even though I don't know you, Godspeed my friend.
