rm 125 splitting the engine

I need to change my crank bearing but i have never split the casing before. Is there anything i should watch out for when i do this? Somebody told me that he had a bike and when he split it the transmission fell into peices...could that be possible? Thanks in advance.

Yes, since the transmission is held in the case, it will fall apart when you split the cases if you allow it to. This is a fairly involved repair, requiring some special tools and good mechanical skills and a repair manual.

Take a look at this link, before you dive in and get over your head. If you doubt your skill or preparedness to tackle the job, take the engine out, and have a shop do the rebuild.
