my brother in law is buying a 96 RM125 tonight for a good price. the kid who is selling it doesn't really know what he is talking about and says that our local dirtbike shop said it needs a rectifier and condenser to run. Both electrical. I know what a rectifier is. But the condenser i really don't know.

let me know what that is before we go buy this tonight please

A condenser was used in bikes with points, the 96 RM doesn't use points. Maybe he misunderstood the local shop or maybe he never took it there and wants to dump a load of crap on your brother in-law for a good price

If it doesn't run and you don't trust the seller, walk away from the deal. Or take it to a shop or mechanic, that you trust, yourself to get the right scoop on what it needs.

That's not the condenser I was thinking of. I had been helping a friend with an old points bike and had points/condenser it on my mind.

Sounds like you may have answered your own question, no?

The 125 you are talking about is mine and it is a 1994 motor and it doesn't even have them parts on it, it actually needed a CDI but in runs now.
