it looks like a 1989 model mate. you can tell by the water pump cover and also the forks. the 1989 model had a sort of flat water pump cover but the 1990-93 models had this kind of water pump cover (see attached picture) if it is 1990 the forks between the fork clamps would be kind of smooth but the 1991 had one ring around each for fork between the fork clamps. the 1991 (and i think up to 1993) had 2 rings around them.

Let's recap:

The frame # is torn off.

The seller thinks it's a '96 or '97, but it appears to be an '89.

Call me suspicious, but I hope you did not pay too much and you really trust the seller (your boss).

Toren off model/make/year sticker wow.Theres is no reason to remove that sticker and it wont peel off until someone wants it off.If a cop saw that bike like that they might take it from you without qs.Hope you have a title or bill of sale.

It is either a '91 or '92. The forks give it away, as do the lack of kickstand mount on the swing arm.

'89-'90 had USD KYB forks with lower protectors on the front only; '91-'95 had USD Showas with lower fork protectors that wrap. '96-up had conventional Showas.

'93-up has a plate on the swing arm for the kickstand; before those years it was frame mounted.

its not a 91 or 92 its an 89 mate. they fork protectors on it are after market they are not the originals. as i said about the rings on the forks that indicate the year 91 or 92. the 91 has one ring the 92 has 2 rings.

also there is a mount for a kickstand on the first picture. see where the frame protectors are you see the bit of the frame protector protuding over the start of the swing arm there is a mount on there for the kick stand.
