Rust On Rear Disk

I've rescently been having some problems with rust on my rear brake disk. After washing I try to dry the disk off as best I can with a rag but it still seems to rust a little bit and it leaves a nice big patch of rust where the pads were while the bike was sitting. Any advise on this? I'm not sure if WD-40 would be good for the pads and if it would affect braking performance. Thanks!

You can also ride the bike and get the brakes hot.

I do this, or use my leaf blower to dry them off. Any moisture on my discs will do the same thing.

Rust between the rotor and the pad is totally normal. Just like on a car with disk brakes.
Ride the brake for a moment after you start riding and this will get it off.
If it really bothers you steel wool will take it off.
