My son and I will be at El Mirage Saturday morning. This will be my first ride since surgery so it will be a slow one. I might need to hang at the truck while Cody rides around. He will be on a XR100.

We might come out if it rains out there on Friday.

(KTMBoy: how about a weather report every week, Friday night? Better yet: a loam gage - if the soil about your place is moist or dry?)

Jeff: will you be in your normal spot?

If the lakebed is wet I will be straight up the main road off to the left side. I'll be parked on that old concrete pad.

If its dry we will be on the right edge of the lakebed somewhere.

Must be nice to ride! Man all I can do nowadays is sit on my bike and make motorcycle noises and pretend to ride. BTW Mirage is going to be real wet. Wet got a lot of rain up here this week. May even get some snow at the higher elevations tommorrow. Welcome back to riding Jeff although Im jealous as hell.

I havent even touched the green monster. It still has all the Elsinore dirt on it. I do know that the radiator is bent and will need to be straightened. I think the top triple clamp and renthal bars are history too. I figure I have plenty of time to work on her so Im waiting till after the holidays. Joker you still riding out at Elsinore or are you back into the trail riding?

Thanks for the report, BD. Sorry to hear your horse is hurting; mine's been begging to tug the leash.

What time will you be there, Jeff? We're thinking ~9am, but then again, we will be going separate ways from you two...

I don't think I've been riding since I experienced the fear that day at Elsinore.

I'm looking forward to getting back out. I'd like to try and make it to the lakebed saturday.

Placelast, if I can make it, and it's not raining, do you mind my tagging along? My built in riding partner is going to be taking a few months off to concentrate on school and grades.

Oh, certainly; everyone's welcome, but I will not know if we are going for sure until I see my son's work schedule tonight (I'm traveling right now.)

OK: Jr. & I'll be there 8:30-9am. Pvt, et al: see ya there. The concrete pad is a few miles in; look for white Toyota T-100 with two yellow bikes.

CptJack: you coming?

Does this mean I'll finally ride in a wet desert? I'll give myself an 85% chance of being there. Time to load up Big Bertha Blue.

Wow: sorry, guys: just got word Extra Shorty has a tournament tomorrow, and guess who has to drive...

Anyone want to go to the dez Sunday? I'm game for the 25th, and the following weekend, either day so long as we continue to get rain. Perhaps another (bigger) kid's day as I'm ready to get Shorty a bike.

This ride seems to be getting washed away. It's raining here in Cucamonga.

Anyone else going? Andrew? Scar?

Aaaaagh! I just made that last post before looking outside. It's raining - hardly an ideal day for a track ride, especially when I have to look out for the fast guys so they won't land on me (hard to do with rain soaked goggles). With my luck, none of the Big Kids will show up at Mirage for a longer Desert excursion. Maybe this last storm will pass through by morning. and the desert will be ideal for a Sunday ride.

Placelast: If the ride for tomorrow goes, let me know what type of terrain it will be. If it's going through boulder piles and I have to imitate Peter Lampkin, I'll bring the four stroke, If it's more "medium" terrrain" I'll ride the track bike. All tentatively, of course.

RMJeff: It seems that you go to Mirage with your son just when my daughter is off doing something else. We've been to Mirage many times...

You guys missed some awesome conditions.

nice moist dirt............excellent traction...........no dust

While Scar and Pvt Joker took off over the mountains my son and I did a 16 mile loop along the edge of the lakebed and the base of the mountains. That was enough for my knee so we started to pack up.  As Cody and I were heading back to the truck we ran into Scar and Joker again. Unfortunately they were headed out to the desert to find Jokers truck key. Joker hooked up with YZAndrew while the rest of us split.

Did you ever find that key?

Nope, but I sure had a helluva blast on that loop with Scar. I was pretty darned sure I'd be able to find that stinkin' key. Andrew was just as die-hard too. We had fun looking for it though.

Too bad I missed the El Mirage ride. Placelast, Stealthy and I went to Hodge road Sunday, and yes, a wet desert is great to ride in. It should always be that way.

Pvt Joker - are you still thinking of joining the ROTMX?

Yeah, things just kept going against us. Hope the rest of your day went a little better Pvt Joker. We did get a quick ride in though. Jeff said it best, the weather and dirt were awesome. Also learned a good lesson. Gotta get an extra key made and figure some way to stash it on the truck!
