scotts steering stabilizer install question

I installed the scotts on my 04 CRF 450 today. The pin that slides into the tower when pushed down was able to go beneath the bracket that it fits up into. I added more grease to give it some hydraulic action and now it doesn't seem to float as much. Is this correct? or is it unlikely for the pin to move down enough beyond the bracket?
Also, what adjustments seem to work the best for everyone?
I am riding trails and open desert terrain.

Thanks in advance, I am excited to try this thing out!

That pin should have a nylon collar that is adjustable. (Friction fit)
Try moving it so that the pin is just above the slot in the arm mounted to the stabilizer. Instead of grease, I usually apply a little chainlube after each ride.
Hope this helps.
