It is difficult to keep from locking the rear wheel on my 1994 YZ125 when applying the brake. The pads and rotor are in excellent shape and the fluid is fine. The pedal is firm. The pistons retract completely and the pads fully release the rotor when the brake is not applied. It's just very difficult to modulate the amount of braking force. Is there some way to make the braking more linear and less on/off?

It sounds like you have gone through all the obvious things. Could it be something as simple as the adjustment of the lever itself? If you have the lever set too high its pretty hard to apply it gradually. Just a thought.

Like Peer said, adjust the lever down so it is a little lower that the foot peg. I have mine about 1/4" to 1/2" below the top of the peg.
