Shifter seal in a 89 KX250!!! Won't stay!

I've got a 1989 KX250 that I just rebuilt from the ground up. After putting the motor and rest of the bike entirely back together I must say that it is a pretty good bike now. But I've got an annoying leak coming from the shifter seal.

I've put two seals in now and they both seem to be leaking from around the seal. The shifter shaft does have some wear, but it doesn't look like oil is coming through the seal where the shifter shaft goes through, but rather is coming through the mating surface between the seal and case.

I'm guessing the case is a little out of round?

Anyway, does anyone know what I can do to get a good tight seal between the seal and case? I was thinking of using either JB Weld or maybe RTV before pressing in the third seal, but thought I would check with you guys.

For those that care, here are before and after pictures:

I've used permatex gasket sealer in those situations. RTV will eventually get attacked by the oil. JB Weld would work too I suppose but the pematex has always work so I never tried it.

BTW, nice job on the bike!! :yeehaw:

Won't Stay Seal

Locktite makes a product for sealing transmisions.
I don't remember the # but it is red and it wont brake down by oil.
You can buy it at NAPA.

make sure that your crank case vent is not blocked. Happend to me on a z50 seal would just blow out. I forgot to unplug the vent after rebuild........
