Right now, we have an extra Suburban. I got my wife a new one (which she uses to haul the kids), but I still have the old one. The old one is in clean shape (it's a '95 w/ 75K mi). I also have an old (1989) BMW 3 series that I use as my daily driver (100K mi, but very clean).

I can sell the extra Suburban for a fair price tomorrow. If I do so, I'll end up buying a new sedan (Probably a BMW 5 series) for myself. Of course, this will cost much more than I get for the Suburban (and higher insurance, etc.).

Alternatively, I can keep the Suburban and spend a couple of $$ to toughen it up (e.g., aftermarket exhaust, tires/wheels, etc.). In that case, I'll have a good tow rig, but I'll be stuck with a big (and older) car as my daily driver.

My heart says, keep the Suburban. That might be, however, because I have a personality defect that wont let me sell my old stuff (e.g., I have a 1982 KDX 175 sitting in right next to my newer one). Does anyone out there have any rational advice for me?

The smart and probably fun thing to do would be fix up the 'burb. The only drawback is the 95 motor, if it's the 350. I had a 96 which had 50 or more HP on the 95 as they went to a different fuel injection system. That'd be more fun to trick out as far as power potential.

Of course, if it's a 454 like my 99 3/4 ton 'burb was, you could really have some fun with moding it! :)

Something in between might be a Caddilac Escalade or the EXT version (Avalanche base). My wife drives an Escalade and it's a VERY nice truck.
