Silencer modification for a KTM 200

I remember a discussion involving cutting down the stock spark arrestor on the late KTM 200EXC. I can't find the info by doing a search. Any information regarding performance after the mod and how to perform the modification would be greatly appreciated.

If you go buy the newest Dirt Bike mag they have a picture of Mike Lafferty's cut down stocker, I hope that helps some.
