What happened to Juss Laansoo at the end of Moto 2? He was running 7th all moto. He'd be 9th in points if he had not had problems.

DV and Fonseca (Arnesto as he is known on the webcsast) must have been going at it at the end of each moto. DV got him by about 0.5 seconds in the first and Ernie held him off in the 2nd. I think they were the fastest riders on the track at the end of each moto.

Unknown Sean Collier held off a charging Mike Byrne for 8th in moto 1 - Good job!

The Euros will no longer be pointing to Eastwood as proof that the GP talent pool is vastly deeper than the AMA's...

Well, I got to see my first national, and it didn't disappoint. I wish Bubba was there, but I can't complain at all. Tons of people, great weather, F16 flyovers, great track, girls everywhere...

Racing before his hometown fans lit a fire under Short's a$$, but he just couldn't reel in Tedesco. Ivan put in two flawless motos. Brown was off the pace in moto 1, then he got a piece of a hay bail stuck in his rear wheel in moto 2. Hepler was fast, but didn't get the starts. Langston looked good in moto 1, but had some bad luck in the second race.

Both 450 motos ended up in the usual fashion, but K-dub kept RC honest for a good 5 or 6 laps in moto 2. Reed was fast in the first race, but way off the pace in the second. He was gracious on the podium, but he didn't even stick around for the champagne ceremony.

What surprised me the most was how loud those thumpers are. It's actually annoying.

I timed the 250's and the 450's with a stopwatch. I had Tedesco around 2:20 in the early laps of moto 1, and I timed RC around 2:15 in the early laps of his first moto.

I rode Thunder Valley two years ago, and it was in bad shape. It's completely different now. They made a big effort to get it into pro national form.

The worst thing about the races was the traffic. We waited on the OFF RAMP for 45 minutes. Then taxi'd for another 30 minutes to the parking lot. We then waited 20 minutes for the bus to arrive. They didn't plan on this many people showing up.

All in all, it was a blast.

In the first moto, Fonseca had the holeshot and DV did his usual poor start and must have been 10th or so. He is a tall guy so I think he is just that much heavier than RC and Co. I'm wondering if that explains the consistent bad starts. DV gradually picked one rider after the other.
Fonseca's bike did sound a bit rough so I'm not sure if the engine was starting to go. I didn't see DV's pass so I'm not sure how much of a battle they realy had.

In the first moto, KW kept really close to RC until the last lap or so. So it was by no mean a walk in the park for RC.

Brown was slowly catching to Mike Alessi most of the first moto, and got pretty close at one point. But then he lost time and that was the end of that.

I took quite a few photos, including RC's pass on KW in the first. Unfortunately, my internet provider can't handle the volume so I'm going to have to find something to post them. Any suggestion ?

miko.

We waited on the OFF RAMP for 45 minutes.

I got there late, and had to park in the furthest lot away, right across from Bandimere. :bang: Since 50000-70000 stormed for the single road with 3 bus's, we walked.....yeah, 8 miles in freezing rain.

Alessi faded badly in the 2nd moto, which I thought was weird for him. Was he sick?

The procircuit bikes are almost unfair.

In the 450's, it was RC and Kdub and no one else. Reed looked horrible. He still seems to treat sections like SX, and it slows him down a lot. RC and Kdub were keeping the gas on longer (obviously). Reed was shutting off 20 feet from a particular downhill corner.
