Last weekend after my first race of the day I went back to the truck, shut the bike off and noticed that there was a small amount of smoke coming out of the silencer for maybe ten or fifteen minutes and a kind of burning smell like burning rubber, i have a FMF gold series pipe and a FMF shorty silencer. I ran the bike my second race that day, no smoke came out after i shut it off after the second race. Is this something that just happens after you run the bike so hard, or is there something i need to replace (such as repacking the silencer). I have a 2002 YZ 125.

Probably, the fiberglass packing material is pretty cheap and repacking is something you should do regularly to keep you bike noise to a minimum

Use a higher R rated insulation to make it even quieter.

If you were "racing" and riding the bike harder and faster than normal, you may have burned off some of the carbon from inside the pipe.
