I have a '99 KDX 200 and it has the NGK BR8EG (or is it ES?)plugs in it. The owners manual for an '03 200 says that you can change to a BR7EG if you are running a hair rich. Is this a valid way to go? What is the proper gap for best performance?

an EG plug isn't oem..an ES plug is. The fine wire EG plug will work better for you (other things being 1/2 way correct).

Changing plug heat ranges to 'fix' a poorly jetted bike is a mistake.

In most cases, running a '7' plug in the 200 kdx won't cause a problem..especially for woods riding.

If you fancy yourself an mx-racer type kdxer, stick with the '8' and jet your bike correctly.

Jet it right with the right plug.

You shouldn't have any trouble running a .030" gap, although that's on the wide side of spec.

And, yeah...doing some research (on this board) would be of benefit.
