Hey all - redoing the bottom end in a KDX220; down to splitting the cases, but I can't figure out a good way to get the cases apart.

Any insights?

Thanks!

Rocky Mountain sells a few tools that are similar to MotionPro but less expensive. I bet one of these would be sweet for removing that pesky bottom bearing off the steering stem:

BTW, I bought a few odds and ends made by Tusk in the past, and I was not very impressed with their quality. For example, the brake caliper pins were slightly bent, and they would not fully screw into the calipers until I re-cut the threads with a die. But I'm thinking these tools are dumber than a doornail, and certainly better quality than the homemade contraptions I occasionally make, so seems like worth taking a chance on them for the price? Anyone have experience with Tusk tools? What do you think?

The steering stem stops would be in the way.

HOLY TUSK! The guy didn't even grease the end of the bearing puller where it contacted the end of the crankshaft, much less use any flat adapter to spread the load.

A case splitter, and manual. I am assuming that this is the first time. This is no easy job the first time. Actually not even the 10th time lol. Keep everything orgenized and clean with a sheet.
Paitionce is the key. Do not get rough with it. Attn to detail is a must, Take pics as you go and reffer back to them for your notes.
Slow and easy is the way to split a case. Not hard and fast LOL.
Good luck, You can do it.
