With good prep work, it should come out fine. I don't know about durability though. I would get plastic adhesion promoter and use that krylon fusion too. Scuff the hell out of what you are painting, not deep scratches but use like 320 grit and lightly scuff it up till it is not shiny anymore, a good 5-6 coats of clear and wet sanding after that with 800-1000 grit will come out nicely.

will come out nicely.
.. and look like crap very shortly. Save your money on the paint towards some new plastic.

Check out UFO they have plastics for every bike.

Front Fender: http://dirt-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi-...rs_-_Yamaha_YZ125,_YZ250_87-91.html?E+scstore

Number Plate: http://dirt-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi-...es_-_Yamaha_YZ125,_YZ250_87-91.html?E+scstore

Radiator Covers: http://dirt-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi-...or_Covers_-_Yamaha_YZ125_89-92.html?E+scstore

Side Panels: http://dirt-bikes.ridegear.com/cgi-...ls_-_Yamaha_YZ125,_YZ250_89-90.html?E+scstore

This particular place didn't have a rear fender for your year for some reason. But other places will, this is just to give you an idea.

Had you mentioned it was a '90 ....

The paint is fine if you don't intend to ride it. First time the fenders flex, the paint will start to weaken. The tank won't hold paint at all, gas vapor will eat it from the inside out.

I'd guess the only decent chance to get a somewhat lasting paint to stick to fenders would be to get the stuff (an additive of somekind?) that makes the paint flexible, like the stuff they use on cars (bumper covers).

I know a guy that spray bombed an old CR125 (don't recall what year). When I saw it I told him that the tank paint would bubble. he called me about to weeks ago to tell me that I was right. Do a search on painting plastics for the rest of my opinions on the subject.

I did my airbox and it is perfect. I can bend it and it flexes with the plastic and stays perfect. I have seen plastic adhesion promoter used on vehicle bumpers/body kits that flex and they never failed.

Now with fenders/number plates/shrouds/side panels, I agree that you should just buy new plastics not paint. The UFO stuff is very nicely priced!!!
