the stator went bad, looked and smelled burnt so checked it with a meter
and the ohms were way off. so I replaced it and it fixed the problem. The bike ran great for about 2 months but i went riding last weekend and it quit. I got it home and it has the same problem stator burnt up
did i get a bad replacement or does anyone know of something that would cause it to keep eating stators. there is no water or oil inside the cover . thanks for any insights

Check your crank bearings. play in the bearings will allow the flywheel to make contact with the stator and short it out

what ever you do, dont spray wd40 into your stator area, or fill in the hole at the bottom of your ignition cover thinking it will keep water out,,, other than that,, look for any wires that may be getting eaten by the rotating flywheel. also, make sure no wires from the kill switch is shorting out against your bars...
