Taxed to death

$500 per head each year. That's for EVERY man, woman & child reguardless of what you make. Don't feel like paying your tax? Drop them on a john boat and give them a shove towards Cuba. Can't pay your tax? Get a job? Don't want a job get on the boat. Can't find a job? BS! If everyone had to do their part the waste would be monitored much closer but since many are on the recieving end they don't care as long as they get their piece. What is wrong with a flat tax? It will put all the doughnut munchers on the curb. Boo hoo, welcome to the real world. Because a person is motivated to better themselves and their family's lifestyle they get hammered with taxes. Seems that being a burden on the public is the lowest stress way to live. What if everybody did it that way?

Food for thought. I too am fed up with taxes which got me to asking the question, where does it state we are required to pay income taxes? You never learn in school when the law was passed or how it came about. I reread the declaration of Independence and found the wording intersting and then when you figure out we revolted as a country partly because of over taxing. Doesn't make sense that our constitution would allow this so if you start looking through it and figuring about how the supposedly ammendment that involves income tax came about you'll probably be surprised. Also when you learned that congress tried to pass a clause in the late 1800's to collect income taxes and it was declared unconstitutional. Then later they came up with income tax but if you figure out what the definition of income at the time was and how it has gotten twisted as a lot of word meanings do, it opens your eyes and you realize you trade a days labor for a days wage and do not earn income in the context the ammendment was drawn up.

The one question I still have is that if our system was designed to collect taxes and tariffs on items such as alcohol, tobacco, firearms etc. If you look at the wording for the laws on that it's very simple. But if you get an IRS book and look at how they admit income taxes relies on voluntary compliance. If they weren't voluntary, why do the W4's have an option to opt not to pay taxes? Also, if it were so cut and dry why we have to pay income taxes why are the there so many convoluted tax codes? Common sense would say that it is a web of twisted guidelines that hardly any one could ever understand so it seems confusion is the best way to trick the masses.

In closing, I see a lot of people bit*(& but haven't seen any posts about research they've done on it or creative solutions to rid the problem

I'm not trying to start a debate on this and will not reply to any rebuttals as it's not the point of my post and I still don't know much about the racket yet. Also, if any IRS people are out there, yes I do pay my taxes and still plan to volunteer to do so as for I do not prefer to be a martyr.

The point of this email is to hopefully open some eyes and have more people stop and educate themselves about the problem they are facing. Educating yourself about something seems to be the best way to tackle it. Also, I wouldn't recommend to just stop paying taxes because right or wrong, from what I understand if you don't know what your are doing so you can defend yourself, there's a good chance you could end up in big trouble.

Like I said, I'm not some freak who's trying to beat the system. I believe we do owe taxes to a certain extent because we do have highways, we do have one of the greatest militaries in the world. (Who are in my opinion severely underpaid.) Then there are the firefighters and the policemen and the other important people out there who protect and provide us with valuable services. We all owe them. However, do some research and find out just how much of your "Income Tax" dollars go to such things as these. If you find out it's $0, then figure out where in the budget the money does come from. I haven't figured it all out yet and if anybody knows, I'd love to be enlightened.



Oh, yeah for the tax lawyers, accountants and everybody else out there in this multibillion $ fisascoe that stands to lose a lot if the tax system as we know it today went away, if you're only response is that the court system has shot down most of the people who are fighting this, I guess you think OJ is innocent as well. (He must have been because he wasn't found guilty in a court.)

Didn't they give themselves the power to tax income as we were getting pulled into WW2. They never did get it ratified did they. Interesting :think:

Earlier war -- Civil War. Amendment made it "official" -- or, more specifically, permanent -- in 1913.

Doubtful it could withstand a serious Supreme Court substantive review. Therefore such a review would always be avoided by some corollary doctrine (standing, etc.), should a party ever decide seriously to challenge it (which they won't, either).

Can someone explain this to me: we as U.S citizens work hard everyday and get taxes withdrawn from our checks every time we get paid. We pay taxes on cigarettes, alcohol, and so on and so on. So why is it that people can come over from another country and live on U.S soil tax free?! From what I understand the government has certain deals with certain countries as to where if someone comes here and lets say for example starts a business, he/she will be able to be exempt from certain taxes? :|

Obviously none of those polled lives in Kalifornia where an income of 70K qualifies you for a poverty level tax credit! Heck, you can't even afford to lease an apartment if you make 70K. :(

What's really sad is that it starts to make me, at least, resent the people on social/welfare programs and the people who don't earn enough to pay income taxes.

That's not right, I know, and I don't harbor any hard feelings otherwise, but man I HATe thinking that everytime I work harder, improve my skills & earn more money, I have to fork over a larger percentage to people who aren't working harder. I'm to the point where I'm readyt o say "Screw 'em all", every man for himself. Afterall, no one is helping me out any. And I don't expect it either".

Sure, I'm glad for my sister who was able to get food stamps when she and my bro-in-law were in school & poorer than dirt. But that's all the help they took. And as soon as they were able, the got off it.

My grandmother on my mom's side is a great example of someone who took advantage of the system. Count 'em- ELEVEN children, who knows how many different fathers, and you can bet the kids didn't ever see a dime of the welfare check. I'm ashamed of my own family.

Now on my father's side it was different- 8 children, never once did they go on welfare. My grandmother worked two, sometimes three jobs (because my grandfather was a filandering, womanizing drunk gambler... ay, fugetaboutit)

I just got back from my first trip to Sweden, a prime example of a socialist society. Above and beyond the 50% + tax, they consider that no one owns land exclusively. On one side it sounds good, but when someone could pitch a tent in your backyard without a damn thing you can do about it.....I'll take the US anyday, taxes and all.

Not only that, but the rest of the world looks to us to be the earth police. They aren't paying our taxes to support that.
