Don't hit the sticks. :) Make sure that you look ahead so you know what's coming. I have found it is a lot easier to stay up when I go a little faster. For me: speed = stability to a point. Too much speed and I'm liable to hit something. Other then that without knowing the obstacles on the trail or how tight it is the only other thing to offer is. In woods do not stick your foot down or out unless you absolutely have to or you run the risk of being tore off the bike.
:silly: no no no...i KNOW how to ride in the woods ( i race HS's ) i was out cutting trails today...and i mean stick forests...areas where all there are are those 4ft tall stick trees. :debil:
I always like to (or I should ay, like to TRY to) get the front end lofted up. And wheelie around them. Almost like your coming out of a corner real hard. Granted this will not be effective in a race situation. But if your just out riding it's kid of fun. I usually just get hit (if I hit them) in the boot-kneepad area. And it's not as bad. But being a single track, this probably isn't possible unless your name is Shane Watts:confused: . But if you can ride the wheelie and and throw the bike side to side. It's pretty fun
these scrub brush patches really stink don't they :debil:
anyway, my technique involves searching for a spot that seems thin, and then pointing my visor down somewhat (to deflect nasty offending branches) and go. It ain't pretty but it works.
