The family just got back from a fun day at TNT. I just want to say thanks to Gomer and FlynBryan for putting a kink in my finances for letting me ride their CRF 450's. Now I GOTTA sell the KX500 and get me one of those things!! They are so much easier to fly the 4 inches above ground that I actually flew. NICE BIKES!!

Actually, I want to thank Gomer and Bryan for helping with everything from a tour of the big track, the woods, chain tightening 101, handlebar bending 101(what a tool that was), and making me realize how much my wife would like to have electric start on her XR 200. I heard that you can put electric start on an XR 200, any truth to that? That was too much fun and amazingly enough only one of my two boys fell asleep on the way home.

MadMark, I hate you had to leave early and hope your bike is OK! Can you believe Gomer talked my wife into riding the trails as nasty as they were? Gomer has some serious patience to wait for us and usually was helping her before I got to her bike.

Guys, thanks again and see you next time.

Yeah gomer did look a little dissapointed when I said I was coming too! ROFL!
JK. It is amazing how much you learn when you hang with people that do this and love it as much as Gomer does. Of course, I have never been one to shy away from asking a question!

 :aj: Major props to your wife! I couldn't believe it when I saw her at the exit of the trail as I was leaving. Those trails were NASTY yesterday. If you kept up a good pace though they were ALOT of fun. Me and Mark had a good time. Just wish he hadn't of lost that seal on his bike :| Anyway Jim I talked to your wife about the four of us going riding sometime. Interested? I was thinking either here at ext.60 or Brown mtn. Mark tells me Brown mtn. Is real fun(and nice and open for the less brave of heart). Anyway sorry I didn't get to hit the trails w/ya'll(I ended up with a flat front tire). Gomer it seems to me your moving more towards the dark side everytime I see you? :p Thank for the good, although wet, time we'll see ya'll soon. I'm probably gonna have about a 2 week hiatus. So I'll catch up w/ you guys soon.

Gomer,

Thanks again for letting me try the 450. That was more than generous. I feel a little bit better because it sounds like you hit the trails-not sure why but you got to abuse it too? Maybe when I get my bike back together you can drag in behind my truck through the pits or something? I really enjoyed it though adn now I'm SERIOUSLY considering getting one real soon. I'll be ordereing parts for my bike today and we'll just see what happens! I'll be back soon, riding a ........

Mark, I'm right there with you on the new bike thing. Those bikes are sooo much easier to ride than the KX in tight woods, or anywhere else for me at least! I'm sure there are people that can handle that 500 though. Maybe we can talk some dealer into a 2 for 1 deal?

I think Brown Mountain is closed the same time as Uwharrie, Jan - March. If I get a chance, I'll call the ranger station and ask. I have been anxiously awaiting my next ride there.

THAT was a bunch of fun yesterday!  (Even though that KX500 did scare me a few times)

MadMark...I'm glad you enjoyed it!  Next time you'll get to hear it as it fades away in the distance behind you. :scream:

Flynbryan was defintely NOT flying on SOMEPLACE OTHER THAN the big mx track yesterday.  He was NOT making the stepup after the barrel jump look easy.  He was also NOT giving an excellent example of seat jumping the first tabletop.  He also DIDN'T make the step down before the triple-stepup look easy.

:worship: Ocecahp's wife is fearless!!  She went through some tough stuff in the woods and even took an XR70 around the muddy intermediate track!

It's a sure sign of good people when they enjoy their kids and their kids enjoy being around them.  Jim and (you never did tell me your wife's name, so I'll just cal her ...) WonderWoman were two such people.  I'm looking forward to riding with you guys, again.

Unbeknownst to you Gomer is that Madmark was out there in the woods w/a stick trying to file away the serial#'s on your CRF so he could take it home and no be the wiser.;) As I approached him I asked what he was doing and he quickly replied; "Uh.........nothing......you ready?!?" Seriously Mark was pulling away from me like I was on a Bultaco as he rode Gomers bike into the sunset:) He is very much a natural on a stroker. As he was just chugging away I am still riding mine entirely too much like a 2stroke and trying to clutch it everywhere. Here's my .02 towards the "Get madmark a fourstroke fund" Good luck convincing the wife that your Yamaha is inadequate equipment:thumb:

Well, now I really am scared of that KX 500 if it scared Gomer. Geez! BTW, my wife's name is YES MA'AM and YES DEAR, and she actually goes by Lisa too! She is way cool. I'm very lucky to still be married to her after the 4 blown outboard engines in one year. Hence the reason I have bikes again and go fishing with my buddies that have boats! Lisa will be happy as can be to grant my wish to get rid of the KX and get a CRF. That would cost about as much as each one of those outboard rebuilds. This sport might be a little more dangerous, though probably not as slow as I am. Of course hitting an underwater log running in the 80's on a bass boat could be considered a bad thing too!

Gomer, btw, my little one Troy has instructed me that he wants you to come to, "the TNT" as he calls it, everyweekend to ride him on your bike. LOL. I think he liked that little blast of speed once we left the woods.

You were moving much faster on the CRF than you were on the KX. I was having to push it to keep up with you on the inter-mud-iate track.

Troy was cute! Tommy doesn't like it when I go fast and he tells me every couple of minutes not to go too fast. I was very careful to make sure Troy wanted to go fast before we got out of the woods. I asked him several times if he wanted to go fast and he said yes and shook his head. Once I let off and slowed down, he said "Just don't go too fast!"

I'm terrible with names...is his brother Kyle or Tyler?

:(.......wish I hadn't gotten a flat yesterday sounds like ya'll had a good time after I left. I also have to comment that Jim looked ALOT more comfortable on the CRF even on the MX TRACK! Its amazing how just not having to fear your bike makes a difference(Note fear and respect are two different things. I no doubt respect mine;) )

Jim just thought you were being a Nancy, but I told him you were worn out from starting your bike! :p

Gomer, Troy does like to go fast unless its on his bike. The faster the better for Troy on the water in a boat too. Kinda weird huh. I guess he's afraid of his 50 like I am on my 500. I hate calling myself scared of anything. Let's just say lots of respect like Bryan said. Heck, I can't lie, that thing scares the you know what out of me on the track. As long as I have mile or so to stop it in the open I'm not skeered!

My other ones name is Alex. He is the one that normally is much more timid, but he is not scared on the tracks at all. I am real proud of him because he wouldn't even ride his 70 when I first bought it because he dropped it once or twice and couldn't pick it up after he fell. He had just wrecked on his bmx bike and his hip was weak and he was just scared to death of wrecking and getting stuck under the bike. He figured out that he could finally pick it up and that fear left in a hurry. He loves to ridenow, he even wrecked twice that day, as you saw from the handlebar bending lesson I got. He's got the strawberries to prove it. I wonder if it was the lack of front brake that got him the second time. LOL. I think he figured out the back brake thing now.

Bryan you know I didn't call you no Nancyboy now don't you? You started my bike last week quicker than I did. LOL I'm sure Gomer wouldn't start anything here would he? I had a flat as I was putting air in mine. I guess a piece of sand got stuck in the valve as I was putting air in it and I messed with it for a minute and it held air again. I was about to be a sad puppy!

See ya,
Jim

????????????? Gomer start something.....  NEVER!! LOL Gomer is great at picking at ya, but I like Gomer in that he can TAKE IT as well as he GIVES it ;) The flat was a good reason for me to get on home, because I was still cold and damp from the swim I took in the ATV rut on the HS trail earlier in the day anyway  Although I should've tried to see if I could get it to hold air......O well. Next time.

The one great truth that we can all look to with faith is that I would never start any trouble.

I was just heckling Bryan because some old fat guy came over and started his bike with one kick after Bryan had been wearing out the kickstarter. For $19.95 I can probably get him to reveal his secret technique!

Bryan, we found that mudhole leading to the vertical wall in the woods. Once we got all 3 bikes over it, we took a shortcut straight out of the woods!

Did I mention that *someone* in our group managed to crash at 5 mph IN THE DIRT ROAD after you left, but we won't mention any names, will we Jim?!?
