Hey guys,

Is there an fmx section on DRN? Anyway. I, amoung others, was amazed to see that double backflip pulled by Pastrana.

-Can others compete against him?
-What new trick is he practicing now (backflip and a 360 I guess)?
-Are there any limits to the evolution of this sport?

Just thought we could discuss about this!

Well..I was watching X games classix, when a different guy took the Gold Medal in best trick. (Can't remember his name, he rode a YZ and this was in 2004-05.) But as of now, it all depends...No one can really call it.

I would be really excited to see what he is working on next. Is there a site where I can go to..maybe a blog or something of Travis'? Just to keep his fans knowing what he's working on.

I highly doubt there's any limits to the evolution. One thing that amazed me was, a picture in RacerX. Supposedly some guy tried to jump the fountains, (can't remember the location), and he ended up in an ambulance. Then the picture was of a guy doing a backflip over the fountains. That just shows pure evolution..The first backflip on a dirtbike wasn't too long ago, now a double backflip already. I think that pretty much says it all. There will be so many crazy tricks invented, it'll be hard to keep up with today's freestyle mx. Just my opinion.

It was Mike Metzger that flipped over the fountains at Caesars Palace a few months ago. His distance record was quickly broken. If you can get your hands on Nitro Circus 3, you can get a little glimpse of the ideas that Trav has in his mind. There is a lot of mini bike foam pit footage in that video.

Oh yeah, when you said the name it brought it back. I could remember reading it in racerx but didn't want to flip through the whole magazine looking for the name of the guy.

When Metz did it, it was televised live. Twitch that went for the longer flip (but not at the fountain). Evel Knievel and Gary Wells failed the jump, but Robbie Knievel made it.

The guy who ended up in the ambulance was either the famous Evil Knievel or Gary Wells (I think both did). The only successful attempt was Evil's son, Robbie. I don't know what Knievel could have done with today's bikes hmm? Jeremy Stenberg pulled the longest backflip ever (155 feet) which is 35 foot longer than Metzger's record (120 feet).

Backflip are now very basic tricks! Pastrana flipped in his foam pit with his 5 year old cousin sitting on his bike!

Did anyone see that backflip and 360 I'm talking about?

(Just saw that FruDaddy posted before I did, sorry for the repetition)

how about the guy who spun his body and landed back on his bike? He was pretty good. I think it was in the x-games a couple years back for best trick.

Did anybody see what Kenny Bartram does like a backflip but he goes on the ramp with his right foot on the left peg? What is the name for that?

oh..yeah i've seen that. he does a backflip and lands with one foot on the opposite peg, almost like he's standing beside the bike. that makes an awesome trick, really like the way it looks.

I found it!
The trick is called the "side saddle back flip". I wonder how he controls the bike's inclination in the air since all his weight is on one side...

The 360 body varial is called "the Carolla".

That guy named Tommy who flew right above the foam pit and crashed the other side? If yes, it's amazing how high he went! Imagine how scary it is to actually be so high up and figure out that you won't land in nice little foam...but on hard solid ground :p

Could you make a link to this vid? I searched it without any results. Funny to say but I like watching crashes! Haha Where can I buy NC3 in Canada?

Do you mean that Tommy really wanted to do a frontflip in the foam pit on a street bike?

I can't say for sure what he wanted to do ;) . But he hit a ramp and did half of a front flip  . Of course, he did miss the foam pit by a couple of feet. Perhaps he wanted to do the flip over the pit and under rotated :yikes: . If he were trying to flip into the pit, he went a little too far :whoa: . I felt sorry for the bike when I saw it :( .

Who is this guy anyway? Is he just some of TP's friend fooling around or is he a known freestyler? I felt sorry for the guy! Can you imagine how painful this must be! :coocoo:
