im new to bikes.
question one. the front tire cant be off set if i put it between my legs and twist the handle bars. what do i tighten to fix this.

second i know i have a trail bike, but when i do jumps (little ones) i land on the front tire. (that is how i discovered the tire can move) i have pulled my little sissy jump off once correctly. i have tried loading the forks and acclerating on the jump. i want to land right... is this just me sucking ass or is it part the fact i have a two stroke. dont laugh...

Ok are you saying the Tire or the Rim moves? If the rim can be twist side to side sounds like the bearings are worn out. About the jump i have rode mostly 4-stroke all my life till about 2 months ago and i can jump mine fine you just have you power into the jump you cant let off the gas right as you hit the ramp or you will noise dive every time maybe you have to much weight forward.

Your KDX has rubber mounted handlebars. Where the bottom bar clamp joins with the top fork clamp, there are some very soft rubber inserts. These can get tweaked and twisted during hard landings or crashes, which puts the tire out of alignment with the handlebars. You should be able to find some poly-urethane inserts to replace the soft rubber ones.

If your fork oil level is too low, the bike will bottom harshly. Raising the fork oil level will improve bottoming resistance.

Also, make sure your fork pinch bolts in the triple clamps are torqued properly (I think it is 12 lb. ft. but you might want to check your manual). You do not want to overtighten them, but if they are too lose the forks can twist in a crash or hard hit.

Finally, your KDX has very soft fork springs and too much high speed compression damping. The soft springs can result in harsh bottoming out on big hits, and the too much compression damping makes the forks harsh on rocks and roots. The forks will work much better everywhere if you revalve them for less high speed compression and use stiffer springs.
