he also is persistent to the point of not allowing people to weasle their way out of positions.
While I agree completely and watch him for that very reason, he tends to get on the high-horse a little too often, from time to time putting words in people's mouths. I agree with the attempt to disallow the spin, but he can get a little too excited :) . It's more a matter of his personality bothering me, not what he's trying to do.

But while he does get overbearing, he also is persistent to the point of not allowing people to weasle their way out of positions. And was willing to hang it out there, as the only acknowledged righty on a national news channel conducting interviews. As to your earlier statement about politics -- it may be distasteful, but it's necessary that you remain informed and part of an active debate (no matter how wrong-headed you may consistently be). Our entire scheme of government was founded, and dependent, upon an educated and diligent citizenry. If the Founders knew what dolts we'd become, I have a strong suspicion they'd have chosen a different system. :(

Yes, nothing more than an arrogant, condescending know-it-all. Albeit an entertaining one.

And, owing to the fact that you do not know me personally, I find it a bit distasteful to be assailed as "wrong-headed" and a "dolt". No, I don't really give a rat's arse about politics, with one notable exception: the closing of public lands to dirt bikes. But, do you care about what makes a baseball offense work? Do you care about what goes into evaluating a minor league baseball prospect? Is some of your time consumed investigating what makes a web page work in IE but not Netscape? Is your religion a certain crimson-and-cream football squad? No? Perfectly OK with me, you're entitled to your interests just as much as I am.

I do not care to be a political watchdog. So long as I live by the Golden Rule, that's good enough for me. Does it make mine a shallow existence? Perhaps. But it's the one I choose, and it's worked out pretty well thus far.

Pat- You don't have to be interested in politics, but you should be interested in policy. If you're not, your existance may not be a shallow one, but it is a selfish one (Is there a difference?:think ). Unfortunately, you can't ignore the messy world of politics if you have any interest in affecting policy. I'm having a tough time understanding how you could sit through forty or so O'Reilly shows if you weren't really interested.

What I like about O'Reilly is the fact he isn't afraid to give someone a well-deserved ration of crap. He's the only one that will go after the established left and the other media .............best of all.... JESSE JACKSON! He also lets his guest TELL THEIR SIDE. Sure he will get after them, but he atleast lets them talk. He also doesn't do the CNN trick: put 2-3 liberals against one lonely conservative and make it appear "more people think this way".

Everyone has a valid point with their impression of O'Reilly, but Ivan puts it in a nutshell, "it's better than what is on ABC"

It's sad, I have 100 different channels to watch, and I find myself watching Fox News, TLC & The History Channel

Aha! You nailed it. Like I said, with the exception of the closing of public lands to dirt bikes, I have no interest in affecting policy. It's just not what floats my boat. Shallow/selfish? Probably. Doltly? Could be.

Just trying to see what all the hullaballoo was about. You can't evaluate someone by just one show (or one week for that matter), hence the couple of months.

Personally, I watch MSNBC for "news". Why? Five reasons:

1. Campbell Brown (HOF worthy)
2. Ashleigh Banfield
3. Norah O'Donnell
4. Monica Novotny
5. Fredricka Whitfield

;)

Yup... have a dish and those are pretty much the only channels I watch. Okay, I admit it, I watch Junkward wars from time to time :scream:

About Revolto... flipped over to his show the other day. His poll-driven patriotisum just about makde me puke.

And Mr. Jackson? Anyone that nails that camera lusting ass can't be all bad.

Now Pat -- expressing one's opinions does open one up to charges of being "wrongheaded", and the "distaste" that goes with that. The "dolt" comment was meant for the mean/median/average member of our current electorate, btw. "If the Founders knew what dolts we'd become . . ."

As to not caring about any political questions but riding issues, well, that's really at odds with our scheme of government. And quite regrettable.

Actually, a recipe for disaster.

A much longer focus/train of thought was not only envisioned by our founding fathers, but considered a given. They did not think that we'd ever reach a point where we valued freedom so lowly as to not safeguard it. :(

Fair enough. Perhaps I should have worded it thusly: I believe there are few absolutes in life, all of them stemming from the Golden Rule. Holding an opinion different from someone else's doesn't make me wrong-headed, it simply makes my opinion different.

No one knows everything (though they might come across that way). You seem to value following all governmental issues closely and forming an opinion about them. Fine, that's what you choose to do and more power to you. Frankly, you should be in government since you feel so strongly. Your passion would then be channeled in the proper direction. (If you are in government, please ignore the previous two sentences.)

Do the few things I value - being kind to others, riding my scooter off-road, worshiping at the temple of the almighty Sooner, being a baseball dork - make me limited? Sure. Are they reason for chicken-littleism, a "recipe for disaster"? Doubtful. Do they make me wrong? I don't think so.

Does the fact that people like me exist in our country mean we've "hit the gutter"? Who knows? I'd like to think not, but that's not for either one of us to decide.

Now then...

Lori Dhue? The Panel thanks you for bringing this candidate to our attention. We have reviewed her merits and found her...a little too Barbie-dollish, a tad heavy on the makeup. But the rhymes you guys have come up with are most impressive indeed! ;)

Campbell Brown is "HOF worthy"?! Are you kidding, when you don't even have JLHewitt or Natlie Portman in there? Come on, man!

No, I don't think everybody needs to follow politics. Only those who get to vote. ;)

Oh yes. Absolutely she is. True greatness. <whisper>hint...click on "she is"...</whisper>

And I'll be damned if you haven't stumbled upon someone already slated for future induction. Can't tell you which one though.

And keep in mind, I can only induct once per year. And if all worthy candidates went in at once, what would I do next year? I might have to lower the lofty HOF standards just so someone would be inducted. We can't have that.

Man I'm a goober.

Yes!! (I'm so excited. I don't even know which one I'd pick, they've both got so much talent).

As to Ms. Brown -- I think I see your point.
