Would anyone know the easiest way to fit USD forks to a 2001 kdx. I believe that kx forks fit but do the kx tripple clamps fit the head bearings? I get stuck in ruts where my friends don't.
His problem is that he gets stuck in ruts, because the conventional fork has TONS more underhang than an inverted fork, so new springs won't change that. Plus it would take a lot more than springs to get these sad forks to perform like more modern technology.
I don't know much about swapping, but there have been lots of posts here about it. Try the search and hope for the best.
The absolute easiest swap is to use KLX 250/300 forks. I put a set of KLX 250 forks on my 97, it is a bolt on affair. You need the KLX triple, forks and brake line. Everything else is the same including front wheel, brake caliper and rotor. Steering stops are exactly the same. The KlX forks are about the same as the stock KDX forks but they are much better in deep ruts, rocks due to the small amount of under hang. It was well worth the effort for me.
That sounds like a easy plan to me, i would get them re valved to suit my riding style the same time i do the rear shock. I wonder why more people don't do it?
