I finally made our reservations :silly:
We're staying in the peppermill lodge with CJ's shirt in tow.
I was just looking at all the DW pics and got super excited about Reno again :yeehaw:
I did a google search on Moon Rocks and most of the sites were 4x4's and geology research. I wanted a mental picture of the topography.
It looks like high desert and rocky.
So, are there designated trails or is it a free for all.
GSR, can you give me your riding experience from last year? :worship:

It is not a marked area like the CA OHV parks, but the courses will be ribboned (by me). The terrain is extremely varied. There not really that many rocks. In Nevada you can REALLY get into some rocks - Moonrocks is nothing! We will primarily avoid as many 4X4 trails as possible. I can ride all day long there and never ride 2-track.

If you are, no I bought my bike over a year ago from a guy in SF.
Why do you ask.

Hey CRSwade- Regarding trailer/space, we're in the debating stage of whether to pull the 14ft box trailer for only two bikes or not. We could just throw the two bikes in the back of the pickup. However, if other folks like yourself want to caravan, the box trailer might make more sense. The truck's a four door with comfy enough back seats. We have the trailer set up to hold up to five bikes total. Options are open, eh!

Yeah, we definitely have room for another bike or three in the toybox. I'd really like to take the trailer for security and to protect the bikes from Colorado snow. But it's hard to justify pulling that thing for just two bikes.

I should point out, however, that we've already paid for our hotel in Reno, so our travel dates are fixed. Driving west on the 12th. Driving east on the 17th. Riding the 13th-16th. Thats a day or so earlier than most folks are showing up in Reno.

Thats almost in my back yard.What a small world. I just got back into ridding and bought my first bike in 15 years. A 94 kdx 200.I look forward to meeting you all next year.

Hey people, Im new to the DRN but a regular rider of Moon Rocks and other NV areas. Would love to come to the Feb. ride. I first heard of DRN from Firelilly about a year ago while doing some work for them. (FireLilly: are you liking the kdx 220 better now?). Hey Strick: Was that you at Moon Rocks on Vet. Day last month right after we had all the rain? There was a enclosed trailer with a giant DRN sticker on the back. That was incredible conditions - the stuff that legends are made of! Oh, by the way, does anyone do much riding in the Pine Nut area? And where is the best place to stage at? I Rode there years ago with a friend and loved the mix of trails, high elevation stuff and sand washes.

There is actually 2 LARGE DRN stickers on the 2 back doors. And yes, that was me. Maybe the best conditions possible at Moonrocks.

The only 2 places I have staged are near the river in Carson City at the beginning of Brunswick Canyon, and the end of Johnson lane at the north end of Minden.

Hey Strick, whats going on? This is John Campbell, we used to ride a year or so ago. Well, I would have emailed/PM'd you but for some reason it wont let me. I've been riding the moonrocks about 5 times a week since I moved out here. :)

Well, I was wondering if ya wanted to go riding sometime? And also, if you know someone selling an older 80cc bike? I'm trying to get a starter bike for my little brother.

Blaze - absolutely - let's ride. I thought you had fallen in a deep ravine never to be found again. Do you still have the AF. I will let you know on the 80. I may have a line on one. I ride during the week - every other Thursday, and one day on the weekend.

Nah no ravines for me. But just as bad. I lost my job and had absoultly no money to spend on the bike/gas/maintenence so I had to stop riding for about 6 months. But I've been riding for the last 2 almost everyday. I live about 5 minutes from the Moonrocks. :)

Yeah I've still got the AF. Once I get my new pipe in I can go ride whenever your going out. Let me know.

Well thats the last time I do any off that stuff, until the next time that is. Did not think I still read these things did ya? I don't have so many classes that I can't go to reno. This semester is over. Tuesday is my last final, and next semester I am only taking 12 credits so I will have time. Anyway how is everyone? Long time no see, or type in this case, been busy at college, hoping to be a Clinical Psychologist when I grow up. I would love to come to Reno again, had a blast last time am I still invited?
