I'm considering making a trip south for spring break with LazyBoy so he can get some seat time before our season starts. At this point I am wide open to suggestions but I am not certain how far south I need to go to get decent riding weather during that time of year. I am considering OK since it's the only place stateside we've ever ridden and it seemed like there was a lot of options in a small area. we are also considering getting his suspension done my Marshall Plumb of Marshall's Racing in Stillwater so this would help kill two birds with one stone.

Another option would be Phoenix as my in-laws are there and I have to imagine the weather would be great. No idea what the riding is like in the area and it would also darn near double our travel time.

Any feedback on general weather expectations in OK at that time of year as well as other location suggestions for a good 7-9 day riding trip during that timeframe?

march/april in ok is generally good riding weather and all the tracks will be open by then (some close in january and february here). of course, you know about the 500 and we have a dune area here too. both are open year-round. the only real negative is that it can be rainy at that time of year, although we didn't get a rainy season this year.

you'll be happy with marshall's suspension. we've had two of kendall's bikes done by them and kendall loved it. they've done some work on mine too. you would actually be dealing with travis elwine. he is marshall's suspension guy. he's a nice, respectful guy that listens to you and does you right.

Its great ridding here... as long as you have studded tires and heated grips. ;) Texas is awsome that time of year.

Jay, I got the opportunity to meet Marshall and Travis during DW04 when Troy's RM grenaded on day 1 and needed the cases split. They took care of us like I couldn't believe and then even stopped by to visit Troy in the Hospital after he wadded himself up, can't meet better people as far as I'm concerned. I've been looking for an excuse to give them some business but shipping suspension from Canada sucks so I figured this would be a great chance.

For the others offering different spots, some info as far as amount of tracks in the area and the likely hood of being open to practice during the week etc would be super, as well as which major centre I would want to be headed towards in that state. We would be arriving sometime on the weekend of March 25 and would want to ride daily through the following Friday if possible. Right now Stillwater is my prefered destination but I just wanted to confirm the weather would be decent. I'll touch base with Kris at Cooperland as well as a few other tracks in the area to see what the chances of getting to ride are during that time frame.

Chili:

OK and North Texas would be a good point to aim towards. The weather here is beautiful by then, sans a few tornados. There are a number of track that are north of the Metromess and I am sure some of our professional practice riders will come out and give him some competition.

Start in Stillwater and meander south to get him seat time on more than one surface.
