hi, I have a 96 yz250, and I just can't seem to bet my body position right. nor does my bike 'feel' right. And after a few laps, I start getting wicked lower back pains. The bars seem way too low. I'm about 6'4. Right now, I have renthal handle bars, but I'm not sure what model since they were allready there when I bought the bike. I have stock triple clamps, and would really like to avoid another expence this year( I don't intend on changing them this year.) any recommendations would be very appreciated.

Eric

oh, yeah, I almost forgot... I'd really like them too look cool. It's all part of my 'my bike looks better than I can ride it' scheme. :) hey. you gotta love cool bikes!

i like the protaper windam bend and the renthal fatbar ktm (pre2003) bend. both are quite tall and very straight- the ktm bend are really really straight and help you get forward on the bike.

a lot of tall people use the button bend, but they have a lot of pull back

Look at the XR bend, they rise up about 4", Ive got a pair on my 00 KX250, only issue is that the cables just barely reach now.

sweep. ie the angle the bars are bent back. if you sit down a lot, bars with a lot of sweep are OK. the straighter bars like the windam and ktm bends are better for getting farward on the bike and standing up

I also use the Windham bend in the Black anodized Pro Tapers. I also got triple clamps that moved the bars forward away from me and lower pegs. Gave me more room.

I also rolled my bars slightly forward so that the bars are flat when I'm in attack position not sitting. This is not comfortable for everyone as most people leave them flat for sitting. Roll them forward a little bit at a time til you feel comfortable with them standing and sitting.

If they still sell them Renthal has Jimmy Button bars that are really really tall. They were made when he was riding Yamaha's. I had them when I had my Husaberg and loved them. I dont buy 7/8th bars anymore and they dont make them in the over sized bars. Im 6' 3" hope this helps.

The double-high CR are my choice, in a Tag T-2 or Azonic bar. The Tag comes in colors and is very cool looking. You could also get ATV bars which are taller than bike bars, but otherwise the same. I'm 6' and with very long arms, so have fought this battle as well. My solution has been those bars and a new top clamp with adjustable heights via different spacers.

I also had the Button Bend, sold it with my 97 CR, but I am almost 6' but found I liked the bars up high, and it did the trick. Compare the dimensions on the relative websites for comparison with the Windham. Anyone know how to tell what bars one may have if you dont know what bars are on your newly purchased used bike?
