What does DRN mean to you?

When I say "That's what they say".
Wife(friend, co-worker,etc.) says "who's they".
Now with all of the diverse knowlege I pick up here(add 1 grain of salt ;) ) I can say that "they" is "the guys* on DRN of course"
That shuts them up pretty quick :confused:

*guys=guys & girls, and even more PC males and females :confused:

One big ass family and some of the best riding times with some of the greatest people a person could meet.

I've seen brake ups and Marriages, I 've seen life leave and New Life brought into this world and that's just here on DRN

I feel I could go just about anywhere in this small world and have a buddy or bud-et ( I'm being PC there ) to go riding with.

What else can I say, this place is .............. DRN :thumb:

I just joined in March at the urging of my friend SparkyYZF. Little did I know that by coming here I would actually meet and ride with no less than 50 other members, some of whom have become very good friends. The number will grow soon at DW'02!

Through DRN, I learned about the Ladies Oregon Off-Road School and the Dave Woods Nor Cal Off-Road school where I learned a lot and met most of my new friends.

When I started to think about going to Dirtweek'02 I had a litteral outpouring of support and offers from picking me up at the airport, lending me tents and camp gear to lending me a bike! Where else do you find people who go out of their way like that??

I've gotten PM's out of the blue from nice people just offering support to a new rider and encouragement to keep at it! I get free french language lessons from Pokie and fatty_k, and mechanical advice from BigLou, Karna&Justin, Jonala, and Shannon. Hot4Teacher gave me my first set of gear, including a new helmet.

When I had a birthday last month, I've NEVER had so many people tell me "HAPPY BIRTHDAY NATALIE!! in my life. I've printed and saved that thread because it really did mean a lot.

Dirt Bike Dave gives me REALLY GOOD DIRECTIONS to every riding spot I go to, and Treefinder gives me his last Ibuprofen when I crash harder than he does and lets me hang out by his Citronella candles when the skeeters are bad.

I have seen random acts of kindness on here DAILY, I see people giving other folks really good advice and I've seen some thought-provoking topics that make you stop and think about what life's all about and what we choose to make of it. This place rocks.

I've laughed so hard at some posts and had tears come from others. I've had a great big desire to hug most people on here and when I get the chance I just might! I have to say, DRN folks are THE BEST, I've never met a better group of downright good people in my life - that's the truth.

It all started with some information and technical stuff for me. Found the site and got hooked. Laughed alot and felt the sorrow and pain for others. Watched and read as Thump went through hell and saw the overwhelming support everyone offered.

I watched as Thump stole Twinny's steed and how mad little Twinny got, to find out that it was a joke.:) Watched what happened on 9-11 and saw the help that was offered to folks no one had ever met.

The riding buddies I met and rode with are priceless and the fun that goes on here on a daily basis, is well, leaves me speachless at times.

Last thing I want to add is this, I could post a request for some serious help and would probably spend the next week or so trying to give my thanks to all the replies and offers for help.

I've only got to meet one memeber in person, (Hey VD) but I feel like i know all of them. Don;t get to post as much as I used to and got cnacelled out of DW this year but where else could you go for a few minutes a day and laugh , maybe cry, feel good about your sport and the people in it AND have someone intellegently explain to you why your bike isn't running right? a truly great place. :cool:

I've found tons of great technical help from DRN and the site provides great entertainment while at work. Although, I could do without the "screen cleaning jokes" sometimes. (only when coffee comes out my nose) I had to bring in my own bottle of Windex because of you guys/gals.

I cannot fail to mention the "whipping boy"!!!!! You da man!!!! Keep that sig straight!!! :)

When the infamous "Georgetown Cycle Shop" (GTCS) closed its doors in about 1990, I was a lost moto-soul. I wandered aimlessly. My so-called "life" was without friends, empty of interests, and devoid of meaning. :whiner:

Then one day I was shootin’ at some food…oops, wrong day. :confused:

Then one day I was searching the WWW for memories from the past when I chanced to enter the word “Dirt Rider.” Of course, I was thinking of the magazine, but what I found was DRN. :yeehaw:

DRN is even better than GTCS, because when the bench racing is over, I don’t have to drive home. An added bonus is the fact that you guys don’t make fun of me, as much. :thumb:

Geez, spend a couple of weeks on the road and come back to an innocent looking thread and I get 'Roosted' :) Yup, you guys got a lot of it covered. I joined Jan 2000 I think (too lazy to go look) and promptly went through some very tough times - some great folks here and DW '00 helped ease me through that. I have had the AWESOME opportunity to meet somewhere around 400-500 people from here but with moving have also had the pain associated with not getting to ride with many good buddies in lots of places.
This is a very special place indeed :aj:

Well alot of my feelings have already been covered by the many excellent posts I'll try to express what this site has come mean to me. I found this site while looking for technical tips/advice for bike maintenance in April of this year and was immediately hooked. Not only did I find an unreal amount of knowledge on this board but I started to read other non-technical threads and saw some of the great support and offers of assistance to members down on their luck that it made me realize what a great communtiy I had found in DRN.

I have only been fortunate enough to meet one other DRN'er (there are only 4 I know of within hundreds of miles of me) and that was Zook250 who I just introduced myself to at last weeks races. I read with a jealous eye the threads on organized rides hoping someday to be a part of them or DW. Since my son started racing this year I have also found that the racing community as a whole is very much a similar situation to DRN everyone is very friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand to another rider, it also makes me smile to see other riders high five after a race saying "great race" as my other experiences with sports (hockey, baseball etc) this is not usually the case.

And for the ultimate example of how much DRN means to me, I have got to be one of the stingier people with my money and have always been of the attitude why pay for something that is already free? Well I felt that I should support this board and since it would never be with my knowledge of bike maintenace it would be with my help wherever I could offer it and by becoming a Lifetime Support Team Member :)

It all comes down to the people. The first people I met were Zio and his friend Kelly. I still ride with these guys whenever possible.

The DRN Reno ride every year is now the highlight of my entire year. I'm already looking forward to it!

I think it is an oasis for me, between work, kids home work ( I though I was done with that!) and our recient house building, it gives me a real break :yeehaw: . I have never known so many good people as on DRN and you know it really is true. If you read the above posts the good people theme repeats over and over! I guess we are just a bunch of light harted kids who love life!
I think I found DRN on a search engine in May or June of 1999. It does take away from my brewing time though :whiner:

DRN was an escape from my daily work routine when I was bound to a desk and computer. I was surfing the net a found DRN...joined and been hooked every since!

I've meet some great people through DRN, many I still ride with today. I wanted to bring a group of riders together for a mini spodefest (Elkins Flat#1 Oct 00) and DRN paved the way for that to happen. Oki sent us some T-shirts and big DRN banner, which I still use today when all of us Nor.Cal DRN riders get togather.

Thanks to all of those who make this happen...

AngryJim, I'm with you on the Reno ride....still my favorite and can't wait for the next one!
Someday I'd like to make it to a Dirt Week....

Yep for anyone who has not experienced a wet desert, You have no idea what you are missing. Even us fat guys can look good in the desert! Come on Febuary.......

I came over to DRN with a mass exodus from RMD back in 1999 it has become a big part of my life. I have met some of the most real people ever these past few years. I dont post as often as I use to. Im here as much but there is so much to read that I rarely get the time to sit down and comment. I look foward to meeting more people from DRN and getting to know the ones I have already met better. There has been alot of good come from this family. For the ones that decided to leave us or for those who were banished I truly do feel sorry for them..... :whiner:

Is this the reason we jumped over 15K members in a little over a year? Are we getting a lot or readers from other sites? Or is it people like me who just get into dirtbikes for the first time?

I would encourage those who get a lot out of DRN to become support team members, every little bit helps, and the bigger the site gets, the more resources it needs. The other dirt bike sites are failing due to lack of support. We need to help in anyway we can to ensure that DRN lives on.
