what the R stands for in 450R

I am writing a paper for my english class and I am explaining to those who dont ride what exactly I am talking about when I say Honda CR 450R.....I have everything down except the R after 450R any help would be appreciated.

Don't forget about the 1981 CR450R...although I have heard guys that rode it would like to forget it

I read a scathing review of that bike!!! Crap in first gear, headshake in second. There wasn't much right about that bike from what I read.

my 83, 85, 86 and 88 CR's were nowhere ever close to KTM pumpkin orange or "butterscotch" like my 97 Katoom
