I've been checking out the for sale/wtb forum regularly and damn near all the posts are for late model rides (those that get a new ride every year??).  Where are all the old rides for good deals?

I'd like to have a 2nd ride for buds that come out for a visit.  And it has to be cheaper than my '96 CR500 ;)   It was all I could do to get the CFO to let me get it at $2600.....

I don't know where all the bikes made in the 80's are but the bikes made in the 70's are still going strong in Guatemala.  I have thought many times about driving a truck down there and bringing a bunch of bikes back.  You could make some good money if the import costs weren't too high.

P'last: that's a good question.  I was out of m/c for a decade and a half (since a new CR250 was $2499.  So I'm still dealing with sticker shock.  That's why I jumped on my CR500 at $2,600.

Bottom line is if a good deal is under 1k, I could work it past the CFO. Even if it needs some work.  I was stoked to see Eric gorr's post in the 4sale forum, for a '84 CR250 (coincidently the last bike I raced) for $400 (completely unassembled).  I haven't got a reply yet, however.

It may seem unreasonable, but I know there are some decent deals on old school bikes out there, right???

I should also point out that old school to me may be really old school to most (at least as new as front disc brakes!!).

I am willing to unload my YZ pretty cheap (well under 1k). Send me a PM if you're interested.
