Now that PAP is a memory (and a lot of good ones at that!!) we need a new place to roost. Anyplace will do. I can remember the first ride at Modena and it wasn’t the most trail friendly place to ride but that was where most of us met for the first time!

There has been a lot of talk about TC in a few threads but there must be other places. Let’s keep it legal though…no sense teaching the yungins the wrong way—right?

If anyone has leads on a place that is legal, post it here and we can look into it.

The first place that comes to mind is Flatch's farm near Ravena, NY. Thats where the annual SMOG ride is held. The trails are real nice, fast and smooth. I'm not sure how to get in contact with Mr. Flatch but i'm sure somebody does.
The second would be CATRA but that might be a long trip for our more southernly located folks.

If you mean Lembo Lake aka atvny.com, it was closed down last summer (noise and dust). He's trying to reopen but it has to go through the courts.

How many people (on average) show up for the ride?
Between 20 and 30. It spans 2-3 days and is somewhat informal but on the main day (Saturday) there is 20 to 30.

I didn't know about Lembo lake.

If anyone knows how to get ahold of Mr. Flatch, please let me know. I'll see if I can dig up some info myeslf.

Yeah, CATRA might be too far for the folks from the south but maybe we could pick up some otehrs that couldn't make it to Paragon. I'll have to give Bill a call.

I don't know about everyone else, but TC seems to be out of the question for me. I'm not willing to pay that kind of money to ride somewhere once, maybe twice a year...

Yeah Sam, I feel the same about TC. I've never been there but from what I have been able to pick up it doesn't sound like the best place for our ride.

TC not bad

Hey guys don't knock it till you try it! I've had some good days there and I'm telling you they don't adhere to that must be a member thing. You can go sign a waiver and ride your heart out for the complete day. Well maybe those of us with lights and a little short on brains like myself. They allow night riding there not sure if it's all night or not but you can ride past dusk no problem. I would certainly be up for a ride there and be willing to show you guys around that is if you would want to follow a slow old guy like me... TC is much bigger then Paragon and if you know where to find it they have some kick ass single track and certainly awesome hill climbs. By the way don't get me wrong I loved Paragon as much as all the rest of you and It's not like I'm trying to promote TC but we need to support our sport and they could use and I'm sure would appreciate the business. Hey maybe someone should make a call and see for themselves about the member thing. I've never had a problem there like I said I even go ride alone there. I will be joining as a member this year myself so If the member thing was an issue I guess everyone could be my guest,

There have been alot of rule changes up at TC its awsome but now to go up as a guest you sign a waver and have to have a member take responsiblity of you so if you were to break rules not only you would be kicked out but the member would be in jeppordy of lossing his membership. I am not sure how many one member can take responsiblility of. I belive if you called them and explained the situation then they would be glad to help you.

I have been riding up there for a while and have hit every trail besides the expert trails at one time or another there is trails for enory one from a 50 rider to a top pro. It is awesome there is so much room you dont even see people riding all day. I know everyone could have a great time up at TC and Id be willing to have some guys come up to my site and hang with me and my dad.

I belive it is 35.00 a day for a guest at least thats whst it was when we brought our last guest.
the website is towercitytrailriders.org
sometimes the site will cras though so just be warned. If someone wants to call the office I belive the phone number is on the site I dont remeber it off the top of my head.

I just looked at TC's website - it's $70 for the weekend or $40 per day versus the $40 per weekend we were paying at Paragon. When you've got two people to pay for such as Rooster and myself that's a lot of money.

AND - It's $300 to join per person for the year or $400 for a family. Now it says that a family is a husband and wife and children....can you be a family without children?

I'm not willing to dish out this kind of money to ride for one or two weekends a year...sorry guys.

if anyone finds out about flacks keep us posted
Yes, it's just south of Albany...and it's Flach, not Flacks. I'm doing some checking on it now. There are also a couple of places local to me that might work out too. One's a club that I have to see if they'll let us pay to ride and another is some private land.

Gordon,
I still want to get down to TC with you sometime. I bought a Scott's steer damper so I should be all set!!

Let me know where and when for the spring ride and I will be there. Also the closing of Paragon is just temporary, so in the near future, Paragon will be an option for our rides again. paragon is a business for Kyle and Steph, and I'm sure it wont be too long before the new park is open.

That's what I'm hoping. Correct me if I'm wrong Dan, but Kyle leased 2,500 acres, however we (the users) had trails on more than 10,000 acres. That means if Kyle can find another access point to lease, PAP is back in business.

I think we can do TC. I have some buds in good standing on the board, its been an while but we are a good bunh not some barn storming drunk quad riders, I think we sould see what we can do up at TC. Hey if you think about it, we piad $25 per day at PAP plus $10 per night to camp. so $40 to ride and camp plus TC has a food and parts store on site. Not to bad, but lets see what we can do.
If we ride TC we can hit Rouch Creek for the MX guys, I would like to try a track for the first time I think. We are also only about 1.5 hours from PAP area if we can secure some ;) riding up there

CRG guy I think we need to talk since your a member. My goal is to get an area to stage a DRN TC ride with a lowered "group" day or membership rate. We could also put together a good dual sport ride since there are areas of riding from Black Rock to White Haven we can hit if we have plates.

Other than that, Im up for WV agian. We hit browing forks on the Hatfield McCoy a few years ago, maybe we can do that again or try another one of the sytems?

Hey Squeeky, do you think anyone will buy it if we say Im your kid? :nener:

belive it or not TC is no further for you from NY. It takes me less time to get to TC than PAP even thoug its more miles. The fact its a straight drive off 81 makes it awesome! You do spend the last 25 mins and 10 Miles on back roads though. LOL. But the fact you can smell the riding makes it all good.

OK I will correct you :nener:

Kyle leased 4300 acres 2500 of which are being sold. Reid who was the original owner of Paragon had access to over 10,000 acres, but because the property ran through different counties, they couldnt get the permits to operate on all of it. This left the 4300 acres which was Paragon. Some of you who have riden with me outside DRN rides, have ridden much of the 10,000 acres. I remember Triggger dumping it and tweaking his forks just after we got outside the park property once, and I dotn remember who else has been with us on those trails.

I dont think Paragon will be able to reopen where they were, but there are other things in the works, and I'll keep you informed as things become more definite.

if a set price can be reasonable i would do a TC group ride. Looks like a decent place from the pics i have seen. Hopefully I will still be around this area when that happens, might be on my way to AZ in a few months if things go as planned.

My son and I would be up for anything you guys come up with. I've been looking to meet the Damn Yankees at PAP for a few years, but things just haven't worked out that way.
TC would be awesome. Also, if anyone looking to ride TC other time I would also like to tag along if possible.

Hey Jason, let me know how you make out with some kind of deal at TC. You're right it's not that much further from NY...maybe 30 40 minutes more--I think.

Not that far

Fact is if your coming from the east or south it's probably closer. You would be taking 78 instead of 80 and hitting 81 right at Cabelas which isn't a bad stop to make on the way home.
