Im also thinking maybe DRN can chip in for a group membership at 8Bs. I have to talk to them to see if they will go for it. They have a similar setup with a horse riding group that meets like 3 or 4 times a year there.

Do we have enough rednecks in DRN to be able to meet at 8B's? :joke:

I up for a TC ride if someone can get something worked out for a weekend ride. I'm not paying for a membership there for a ride or two a year. I have enough riding areas around here i dont use. :nener:

I would love to see another group ride in WV sometime. Doesnt have to be this year. Just this time without all the snow and freezing cold. For this to work for most people it would have to be a longer time frame than 2 days. The 4 days several years ago was good for me. The trails were rather open but then again we couldnt get into the "good" bike stuff due to lack of traction. WV would make a nice mini dirtweek for us north easterners.

Sally (RM_guy), got your voice mail, but I was in Little Rock.

Not sure how open Dave Flach would be to having something like this. He's a great guy who does a lot for the sport, but recenty he's had issues with neighboring landowners. So he tries to keep things low-key.

The only other option that I could help negotiate is CATRAland. I'm no longer club President, but still on the executive board. Cost would be minimal as there is no charge for guests. Camping on the club property is also free, but there are no hookups or water. There are a couple of nearby campgrounds that have facilities and one of our members owns a campground about 45-mins away. Of course the ride couldn't take place until after the club Hare Scramble scheduled for May 19th & 20th. The weekend of 6/30 and 7/1 is also out due to another event.

CA, 8B's is Paragons never talked about red head red neck step child. It borders the PAP property on the East up to and over, or under 81. Its a private camping / riding club. They do have guest rates that are $25 / day but require guest to be with members, 2 guest / member is the rule. They offer yearly memberships with or with out spots, they have a big camping / parking area. but the memberships are done on a family basis and are higher than TC by far. That being said, I am a riding member in good standing and I have lots of buds that are yearly members in good standing. Like I said, they have a similar deal with the horse people. I though if we had enough DRN folks to pay for a year membership $750 / year, we could arrange for a few (4 maybe) people who are near by and ride alot (maybe me, CRFguy, scooter, someone else?) to be host and have one of us be on hand whenever DRN riders wanted to ride and or camp we could be responsible. We may also want to volenteer to staff some of thier events (holliday weekend picnics / pig roast) as a show of good faith. Figure between 4 or 6 of us we could scrape up $750 for a year? They do even allow you a spot withy any non permanant structure on it, like a camper, trialer, or cabin / shed. I keep my girls bike up there so I dont have to haul it when and if she wants to come up and ride. I kept a spare YZ 250 called the Y Beater up there but someone bought it off me last year and I have never needed it  .

if you are willing to come a little further south - check out the windrock riding area. http://www.coalcreekohv.com/ they have daily $15 through yearly $80 permits. there is free camping at the base of the mountain (no hookups). paid camping ~mile down dirt road with hookups and shower facilities (can ride to trails) and there are hotels in oak ridge TN ~8miles away. may want to make sure you miss any club events for http://www.windrockatv.com/ as they will book everything and cover the mountain with crazy atv riders (although it is a spectacle to behold...). trails on windrock range from easy dirt roads to impossible rock gardens and when wet, the clay becomes very slick.

Going south for the spring may not be a bad idea. It is the East coast ride right? My van may or may not make it, but hey, thats just part of the adventure right?

Club joining

Hey Jason
I'm up for joining as a club if you know of a way to swing it. As for going south How about the Hatfield McCoy system in WV. It rocks no pun intended. Only problem I can see is it's a real haul for just a weekend but I'd be up for a 4 day weekend down there. If anyone hasn't been there they are real dirtbike friendly down there you can ride right into town with no problem from the law.

We had a Spring Ride at one of the southern trails at Hatfield/McCoy a few years back. It rained...right up until it started snowing. My tent was destroyed and my son was scarred for life (well, for a few weeks anyway).

In the end, it was a long way to go (9 or 10 hours of driving) for very little riding. If I'm going to drive that far, let's just do a DW type event at Wardy's in IL.

It's about a 13-14 hour drive for us to Hatfield/McCoy - so we're not open for that option for just a weekend.

Don't think I could go so far as Hatfield-McCoy. If it were a week long thing, I would drive all day long, but for a weekend, driving twice as many hours than I ride isn't worth it (both time and money)

week long

I can't say exactly when probably sometime in June I'll be headed down there for a week long trip and will keep everyone posted on dates if anyone wants to join in. I'll be riding as many enduros and daulsports as I can find this season so it will have to work in when the schedule permits.

Just found out from a member from Tower City. They do allow pay by the day riding. They say only once, but will never turn down your money if you come. Pay by check or cc.
I will give it a try as soon as it gets somewhat ridable again.

Not yet. It's hard to do when I look out the window and see 2 feet of snow :(

Since you don't ski, get busy planning that ride!

Anyone up for a ride at the Hatfield -McCoy, I would love it. If anyone is too far away for a 12-14 hour drive, they are more than welcome to stay at my place. PapaKeith---sound familiar? We could go and get some Black diamond steaksat Stahleys pub!

I think WV wold be great for a June ride, maybe a week long type event. Im up for it. If you guys want to the the spring ride that late. Like CO said, last time we went in April it was very unspring weather but tons of fun. Then again, I had a van and not a tent  .
If anyone from up north wants to stop along the way like Trigger said I coud arrange a camp ground for you to lay over at a bit further south from Allentown, about an 1.5 hours south of Pap. Gets you to WV in about 8 hours. Sorry, I live in an appartment so I dont have any room to park or entertain  .
Ill look into the 8Bs deal when I get up there next. Probaly in March some time. Im up for the TC thing though for the spring ride so maybe we should start eyeing up a date for that. We will need some members to agree shaparone us around.
