I'm new to this community.
I just need to get any suggestion regarding
my son's Yamaha RT 100. It has been down
for a couple of months now due to a bad transmission
problem. I am considering of buying a used engine w/a
good transmission maybe from **** (if I could find one).
My only problem is that I do not know which engine from
the Yamaha RT models would be compatible with my
RT 100 chassis. I would appreciate for any suggestions.
Thank You. /Sen

PS. Forgot to mention that it is a 1998 year model.

The RT100 engine was the same for all model years. Even better, the bike is the same as a MX100, same part number for the transmission and cases and everything. I started off on a 1990 RT, my cousin had a 79 MX, same damn bike, different plastic. '

I looked up some part numbers on www.bikebandit.com , and indeed they are the same engine/transmission. I don't know for sure what years the MX100 spans, I want to say 73-79, but I could be way off. Gives you some more options for a cheaper bike to sacrifice.

Thanks Adam,
Your reply is very helpful. At least now, I have an idea of
what alternate engine to find and get. I've been constantly
checking for a used engine for this model for some time (months)
now and they are quite hard to find, not even on ****. But with
your suggestions, it really helps. And thanks for the research, and
the bikebandit web address. My son is really eager to get on this
bike again as soon as it gets up & running this cool winter season.
